In the 1.0.1 manual for Tonverk there’s an appendix E that contains details about the SFZ support. (Stuff like what headers and OPCODES that are supported and so on.)
So is SFZ support going away? Was that a rumor?
It was mentioned it probably should have been removed in the first firmware:
But I think, because of all our attempts to import SFZ and all the fuzz Elektronauts created, @Elektron changed their mind and decided to at least document what works for now. Which I think is pretty awesome!
Such a relief. Sounded like a real dumdum move to remove it
I tried using ConvertwithMoss to convert some multi-sampled .wavs into sfz and load it into tonverk but received an error message when trying to play it.
“Failed to load instrument. Multi player sample error”
Not quite idiot proof for dummies like me but I’m sure it will get there.
I made some SFZ from wav files before i sent my Tonverk back they seemed to work ok but i didnt test them fully
From what i can remember i converted Wav multis to SF2 with ConvertWithMoss then converted SF2 to SFZ using Sforzando they show up as Multis in the Tonverk then
Thanks
Update! I was able to play the Juno pad from HERE without any issues, so it must be a convert/moss setting that I’m not understanding when converting my own
Try using the free Sforzando app for converting moss baked SF2 files to SFZ?
I’ll try that! I believe Moss can do wav → SF2 and SF2 → SFZ. Is there a reason why I should use Sforzando instead?
reports in this thread seem to indicate sforzando converted SFZ seems to work well… I’ve yet to try this myself, but plogue, the guy behind sforzando is one of the GOATs, if anyone knows how to make SFZ compliant stuff its him (this is a dude who singlehandedly reverse engineered DX7 sound to bit accurate depths, his C64 work is also legendary)
It didnt work for me doing it through Moss
You can drag your SF2 folders or import them one at a time to Sforzando and it will make a folder with SFZ in
I tried it, first preset from Lewis E Pyle Violin worked without any problems. I even improvized with it a little: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vc-IWfTvkGQ
I say that I say nothing, but maybe here could be a place where people share his multisamples for Tonverk. I’m a little lost facing the creation of my own multis with velocities or/and loop points and anyway, I don’t have a lot of synths or vst to sample, but maybe someone would share them if they are not wiling to sell as a pack. Maybe i’m asking for too much…
What a disappointing thread.
Only one free SFZ tested and working with Tonverk here ?
No motivation to understand how to make them atm.
Dunno how to convert multis I recorded with Blackbox.
Searching working free SFZ for piano and rhodes.
I tested a few non working ones and it is very frustrating.
Well, my Tonverk hasn’t arrived yet (today or Monday), but I’ve already created some SFZs using Bjoerns Sample Mapper. I don’t have a huge library of samples, but I’m interested to see how they work. Some are from the Kawai K5000S I had many years ago, with varying “coverage”. Most are one note per octave, 1 layer, but some are 2 per octave and 2 layers. I need to check the sample rates and maybe convert to 24/48 as mentioned earlier.
This is #1 what I’m looking for as well. An acoustic and electric piano of any kind. Seems like the TV should have come with these, not that you’re going to get any expression out of them without an external controller…
I’ve found two candidates for a Rhodes one. Here the links ( not tried yet on my TV) @sezare56
i find it very inspiring to multisample your own analog monosynths, eurorack mono voices, whatever, and turn it into a polyphonic voice that you can use for the rest of your life. im kind of ocd about preserving sounds when i hit a magic sweet spot while patching and this has been so much more satisfying for me than just recording an ephemeral loop on my octa or blackbox that i could only really slice or use as-is down the line
try multisampling a crazy gritty analog vco sound from one of your behringer monosynths or an 0-coast and turn that into a poly voice, i promise you will be happy with it
Summary
why would you want to use other people’s sounds to make your own art? arent there a million people copy/pasting, using bought sample packs from youtuber patreons and sampling the same old midori takada record?
