Firmware 1.03 for DT2 - Overbridge

Cant see anything about adding mono sampling in the release notes…. Can anyone else confirm that hasn’t happened?

Given that idgaf about OB and there seems to be bugs with this new fw I dont want to waste energy on installing this update if it doesn’t have a fix for sampling in mono.

When I sample while using Overbridge, I can sample once. Then I get a horrible digital noise. I have to restart my whole computer just to use DT2 in my DAW.

Sampling while using OB is an issue for me

on 1.03 every time I save a sample I have to restart my Digitakt 2 to get any sound out of it. seems odd… happens resampling and with usb sampling.

Seems to be a pretty widespread issue. I’m going to revert to the previous firmware for now until this gets fixed. It makes the device basically unusable for me.

If you decide to do so as well, definitely back up all your projects via transfer to your computer. It takes forever but worth saving all of your samples and projects in case something weird happens in the process.

edit: can confirm going back to 1.02, usb/resampling works properly.

It does not appear that this has been fixed.

Cheers for the confirmation.

Pretty disappointing firmware update so far!!! Especially considering how long we’ve all waited for it.

Honestly, I have been very excited for the Overbridge update and it worked fantastic when I used it earlier. It wasn’t until after I recorded some older projects in with Overbridge (quite seamlessly) that I discovered the sampling bug. But, I need my sampler to sample more than I need Overbridge right now so I went back to 1.02 until we get a patch. I can understand how you feel if Overbridge isn’t/wont be part of your workflow though for sure.

There is a saying: never play on patch day.
I‘m not mad, not happy too.

I have atm a pet project with just above 2.5 loc cooking, one man show. Not the first one.
I‘m not a pro programmer at all but this showed me how difficult it can be to wrap your brain around things.

It teached me that I need to wonder how we managed to have computers AT ALL.

And then you have here not exactly standard computers in front of you and need to code something that works across multiple different customer products in combo with a wide range of different operating systems.

The k.i.s.s. principle does not apply to this kind of high tech.

Im impressed that this all works at all, and i mean it that way.

I keep waiting, it’s cooking and promising. (oh, and i keep playing with that box, no time for mad sad bad)

It’s a limiation in Ableton; you can bypass this via the mixing page within the VST. It allows you to group tracks, so you can bundle 9 and 10 to track 9 and call it ‘melodic elements’ or whatever.

Helps if you already have a set track structure, with the kick always on #1 for example.

Is this sample bug confirmed or is it just with a particular operating system / computer hardware?

Seems to be firmware, not overbridge software on the computer.

For me, it was only the 1.03 firmware on the unit itself. Overbridge actually worked great on my macbook w/ Reaper. Put it through its paces multi-tracking 16 stereo audio tracks and it performed really well with negligible latency.

USB sampling worked fine when I had the Digitakt II set as my interface in the DAW, but when it was set as my main audio out source for the laptop itself the bug occurred. I’m hearing that it’s also happened to someone while resampling on the standalone unit, but I can’t confirm.

Does anyone know if this is possible using Ableton: Split DT2 output to 16 audio tracks, add various ableton effects to each track, send tracks back into DT2 for master compressor + overdrive.

Holy crap that’s awesome? Like a bus/submit for tracks? I’m not at my computer but does it let you make a bunch of different busses?

I am now so happy. With overbridge for DTII my studio is finally complete! It took much longer than I had hoped but here it is and it is working. The possibilities…

I’ll echo what others have already been saying. Saving a longer sample crashes the audio engine and the device needs power cycling before it will work again

How short does the sample have to be for it to work ?

I don’t know exactly, but I tried recording some loops starting with 8 steps and increasing each time, 8,16,32 etc. 64 steps or less works, but 128 steps at track scale 1 crashes the audio. That’s only 8 bars which isn’t very long at all.

So 64 steps or less for it to work I guess, not sure about uneven lengths.

Does it works overbridge with DT2 ? Or better wait for the next software fix ?

works fine on Macos Big Sur and Ableton 11 with 15 channels
