Feature Requests for all Elektron Machines

Theoretically possible in mono, hard pan tracks.
(Theoretically possible in stereo with USB, iOs).

Hmmm not quite fulfilling though 🫤

You have two inputs (you need one) and two outputs (you need two). To accomplish what you want, you must forget stereo and pan everything fully left (for re-sampling) or fully right (for main output).

EDIT: I have previously suggested a feature related to this:

I’d like a setting to inverse encoder behaviour (ie. when checkbox is enabled, pressing down an encoder while moving is fine control, and regular encoder turn is coarse control)

disable encoder acceleration

I wonder if it would be possible to be able to assign the NEI condition to any track, rather than its, err, neighbour?

To use as is takes a bit of forethought, of which I have very little to none

MIDI NOTE SETUP Option: Send MIDI Note OFFs instead of Note ONs with velocity 0

The MIDI specification says that the both messages are vaild, but many software synths like the most iOS Synths only accept Note Offs, which is a pity!

@division How’s that supposed to be useful? To release stuck notes or what?

If your Synth does not interpret Note ONs with Velocity set to zero as Note OFFs there’s no release phase. So the Note is played forever.

What I don’t understand is why would you put notes with velocity 0 into the sequencer? Do you want that trig to note off a currently held note?

For machines with the euclidean sequencer - if you program a sequence in with notes, when you go into euclidean mode, your notes are saved and just remapped to the new sequence. If you set it to more notes than in your sequence, it can loop them or play them in reverse or something.

The Sequencer does it by itself to signalize that a note was released.

If you press a key on your keyborad a Note On message is sent with a velocity of 1 to 127.

If you release this pressed key your keyboard sends a Note Off message or a Note On with velocity of 0.

Both Messages are signalizing that a key was released, that’s the point. If you have a keyboard that only sends Note ONs with velo 0 and your synth only accepts Note Off messages to release a note than you’ve got a problem.

To reproduce this connect an Octatrack to an iPad with the Microwave plugin or Sunrizer, or nearly any other iOS Synth.

So I would like to switch the behavior of the Elekton machines for a track in the MIDI NOTE SETUP which note release message should be sent.

Or send a message to the app manufacturer and ask them for a toggle option to interpret note on with a zero value as note off, it seems like it would be easier for an app to restructure this than to update an entire hardware brand’s collective operating systems.

I can definitely see the need for better compatibility though. In the interim you might be able to remap it using something like a blokas midihub to achieve the same effect.

All software and hardware sequencers that I own are sending Note Offs. From an old MaM SQ-16 to newer Korg SQ64 & Sequentix Circlon to name a few.

Sure I can translate the messages. But I think many guys out here need this feature.

So why should I write to all software producers and run into the discussion, who should fix this issue, when it could be done by one manufacturer!? You’re kidding…

Then hopefully this one will listen to your request!

Thanks for the explainer. I wouldn’t have thought Elektron doesn’t send note offs, that’s quite an oddity. I support your request.

Hi there, I tried to reproduce the behaviour of the Octatrack sending the Note ONs with velocity set to zero, but I failed. So if anyone runs into this problem, create a new project and go on…
