The tags are stored as individual bits 0 off , 1 on - using a couple of bytes - there’s no stored text, the firmware is translating the bits to text
it wouldn’t be elegant if there were 20 patches loaded from various sources with different user names if you think about it and how to filter etc
having said all that - if there was a way for a user to correct the translation of e.g. FAIL into something useful it would be nice, but i do not see this happening
In song mode, if you cue a row then press stop and start it should play from the cued row. Currently you have to press stop, cue the row, then press play. Which is awkward to do when performing, or just trying to quickly test a different row.
Not sure if any Elektron machine has ever implemented that but I’ve always felt that it would be really cool if you could have more than 1 trig per trig.
You’d select a trig, enter High Resolution Mode, and now the 16 steps of the track would represent the innards of a trig at 1/16th of the time between two trigs (even better if we can go up to 64 or 128 divisions, but 16 would already be dope). There, you could enter more trigs. It could replace or complement the Retrig mode (and the Retrig could eventually be visible in High Resolution Mode).
My music often contains long notes that end up bliping in an explosion of notes, and with the current sequencer it’s hard to blip more than 3 notes at a time, with microtiming, and at the expense of 2 good steps (that you often only want to microtime on a 4:4 trig condition).
Per step you can use the keyboard to toggle notes on and off, so there’s no way to add multiple of the same note in the same step. That’s just the way it’s designed I guess. But works well for polyphonic stuff. Less for high resolution rhythmic stuff, but with 128 steps per pattern you could set the resolution to 2x and get detailed.
OK it’s a little less OP than what I had in mind but you can still put some more notes per step as long as they’re different so that’s a win!
Is retrig implemented on the DN2? I thought the retrig feature was reserved to rythmic synths (AR, DT). I miss it sorely on my A4 which is well suited for drums apart from that.
Hi!
What everybody needs is an Elektron mixer! Something with no machine like:
16 aux inputs
16 midi or cv sequencing tracks
4 fx/track with all the fx you have
2 lfo/track with panning options
4 fx send you can choice
master fx with multiband compressor, stereoizer, lo-fi, filter, limiter
off course multi-tracking with overbridge
Eurorack level input
That would be the magic tool for all kinds of setup! The only option on the market is OT, but only 4 ins, no send and return, no overbridge, oldschool effetcs, etc!
Apologies if this has been mentioned, but it seems on the DT/DN/ST and sequels that Func+encoder for filter frequency allows one to jump to the maximum value. While this can be useful to instantly open a low pass filter, could we the opposite behavior when turning the encoder CCW to instantly open a high pass filter?
