Feature Requests for all Elektron Machines

Elektron Step sequencer :
On all Elektron machines that have step sequencer, when we put the sequencer scale on per track mode now we choose the number of steps and the active steps will be set in linear manner for example if I set the Track 1 length to be 24 I will have active steps from 1 to 16 on page 1 and from 1 to 8 on page 2,.
Ok my idea is that when we go to track scale if we could choose the accesible steps and the track length will be set accordingly it will be really a great improvement in the elektron sequencer
lets say I want Track 1 to be 24 steps long and I will choose on the track scale page the accesible steps for example in page 1 I will have steps 1 to 12 accessible then in page 2 I will have 1-12 accessible the other steps 13 to 16 will be inactive and the sequencer will jump them. ( if I set step 14 to be active on page 1 the track length will change to 25 ).
and a plus will be to choose the track sequencer play mode ( forward, backward, pingpong, randrom )
Hope it make sense

‘locked step’ - new trig parameter

All steps in the sequence that are ‘locked’ will ignore live trigger / parameter tweaks while live recording and basically stay the same.
AND/OR can not be deleted / untriged while step recording until you ‘unlock’ those steps.

This parameter values will move Between:

Unlocked - Live Rec. locked - Step Rec. Locked - All locked

? Or may have the option to choose what parameter pages will be locked or lock free ?

This will give the option to create live chaos between the Locked order

Triple tap pattern = clear current selected track in pattern and place random trigs
Page + triple tap pattern = clear current page on selected track and place random trigs on page

In general there is a lot of advanced stuff that could be added to elektron boxes with double/triple/quadruple tap combo’s imho

Double maybe, but triple and quadruple would be a terrible UX, as you would require a lot more precision to not do a random action…

I think double tap is too prone for accidents. Regarding terrible UX, i consider this as an advanced feature (could be a bit more ‘hidden’) and ideally compatible with all elektron machines.

Anyway i deeply miss a ‘place random trigs’ feature on all boxes

***more of a behaviour than feature

When changing pattern to already existing lane in song/Arr mode,
Keep the same length/offset/mutes and any other property setting as it was there before.

That way we can use the song edit screen as another live playground :sunglasses:

Multiple copy buffers like on the Machinedrum.

On Machinedrum you can copy a pattern, a track, a trig, an LFO and maybe more and they all remain in their separate copy buffers. That is very very handy for overall workflow. It’s incredibly useful!

On newer machines you only have one single copy buffer for everything and copying one “item” overwrites the buffer and you lose any other item (of various types) you had previously copied.

Digitakt 2:

I’d like to see a system setting to swap the “Mute Mode” and “Song Edit” buttons. I’d like to not have to re-learn muscle memory for this one box that looks the same as the other boxes. Keep it as it is by default since thats how it’s written on the box but give us an option to make it the same as before.

Thank you

PAGE LENGTH
Per Pattern time signature that will affect the number of steps per page.
For example -

3/4 = 12 steps
5/8 = 10 steps
7/8 = 14 steps
And so on up to 15/16 i guess…

That way it will be easier to follow the sequencer in non 4/4 time signatures when switching pages.

And the new pages functions in AR/ST will make more sense

Overbridge request: Have a “record arm” feature in the standalone app recorder, so that you don’t have to manually start recording and then hit play.

literally anything for the models at this point would rip

16 stereo tracks for M:S…
SY CHIP for M:C…

If they managed to make SY CHIP work on M:C I think that’d be one of the more dazzling technical achievements of the 21st century :pl:

For those of us who have several Elektron machines: a way to transfer basic sequencer information for patterns/tracks between machines.

What I mean is a way to transfer the things available on all modern Elektrons:

  • track length
  • trigs including things available on all modern Elektron seqeucners (note value, micro-timing, length, velocity and condition/probability)

I guess it would have to be implemented on a per track basis, since the machines have varying amounts of tracks. Stuff like plocks that are specific to a certain machine / not available on all machines, should be excluded.

I know this might be an edge case, but I’m using different boxes in different circumstances and thus have to re build tracks on another machine from time to time. Which quickly becomes a pain in the ass if trigs have a lot of velocity, note and condition info.

It would also help people migrating from one box to another as a one-off, such as M:S to digitakt, or M:C to syntakt.

Step All

Same as track all but for all the steps in the current pattern or current page of the pattern.

For example it could be use to transpose all the notes and combined with scale quantisation would be a wonderful feature.

This is an enhancement request that I hope finds its way to Elektron product designers.

Norand Mono has a very interesting feature which randomizes any parameter as P-Locks. The way it works is super simple and I’d love love love to have this on everyone of my Elektron boxes.

Hold two buttons to enter randomize mode, while holding, turn any knob back and forth and this sets the min-max range for applying random values on each available trig on this page.

Norand Mono also offers a convenient ‘undo’ button which means I can try, review, erase, try, review, erase. I’m absolutely astounded with the results that I get with this approach.

Thanks for listening.

For the newer boxes which let you associate tags with sounds:

My AK has a tag “TMPS” for tempo-synced patches. I think it could be a useful tag on some newer boxes too, especially ST and DN / DNII. My ST, puzzlingly, has a LOOP tag but not TMPS.
Which led me to think, why not have 4 or 5 user-named tags? They could be named whatever the user chooses and used like the other tags to sort a long list of sounds in a +drive somewhere…

User defined tags would be amazing.

(I’d love it too if those releasing/selling their soundpacks would stop using the MINE tag as thats obviously meant for sounds created by the user right?)

Also thankyou, I finally know what TMPS means now. Til man til.
