Favorite software VSTs/plugins for sound design?

What’s your favorite synths and effects for sound design?

I am pretty much only using Ableton stock plugins, but am looking to get some 3rd party plugins too.

Digitone 2 :+1:t2:

Serum 2. Or wait for Zebra 3. I personally only use Serum2 now with some Hive 2. I dont see much need for anyhting else. Fog Convolver for Reverb as send FX was a cool tip here in the forum, i really like it, and use it now everywhere.

It used to be Phaseplant, now it’s Bitwig. With the exception of soothe2 and one or two physmod plugins, I only use Bitwig devices now.

Madrona Labs - Kaivo, Sumu, Aalto - all incredible
Slate & Ash - Choreographs, Cycles
Dillon Bastan’s stuff - mind blowing possibilities
NI - Playbox, Kinetic Toys
Kentaro’s M4L plug-ins

To name a few…

I’ve eyed of Kentaros stuff a heap of times — any recs ?

Demos sound really good, that strings conversion demo sounds totally sick.

What is the physical modelling actually doing there? Adding resonances to grains?

Pigments.

Which one are you referring to?

Yeah, I love the Cluster LFO one. And Stranular. Oh, and Helisert. Very pricey for what they are…but very very cool indeed. Assigning parameters to an external controller (I use my Midi Fighter Twister) opens up all kinds of possibilities…

This one. I wonder how it works.

Me too!
No idea to be honest.
Only actually bought this one last week (it’s currently on sale, 30% off I believe)
I’ve had Sumu and Aalto for a while.
This is an interesting vid:

I have been enjoying several of the Unfiltered Audio offerings - Lion, Battalion, Triad, and Silo, all very nice. They seem to do sales pretty frequently too so you can get them for quite cheap (though I would say they are well worth the price and their comms at least in the Battalion thread have been more than generous).
