Fader controllers

Pretty impressive functionality. Lots of really good new controllers this year.

The timed snapshot/drop thing is a neat concept. Color me intrigued…
Had a live performance the other night where this would have been very welcome.

Yeah

Yes seems really useful. I’m pretty happy with my faderfox PC12 for live performance but I miss having faders so I could be interested in something like this. Also the connectivity seems pretty great.

Remains the price question…

They seem pretty boutique plus metal chassis , sophisticated firmware , and lots of I/o. I’d be pleasantly surprised if it’s under 400€.

I don’t love the design but at least it’s unique?

Concept definitely fills a dawless niche.
BRB gonna submit a feature request to Oxi for launching snapshots quantized to bars

Was wondering about faders and snapshots but it looks like it has LEDs to suggest where the fader should be, implying takeover / pickup modes.

LED rings solve that for the encoders.

Edit: seems like a missed opportunity not to put led strips next to the faders to show position.

Also a price factor.

lolz, the stated drop function intention is being able to finish buildups with hands in the air before it drops

I guess a 400 coin price is a fantasy, it will be 2-3x of that, no?

Yeah maybe a little too hopeful… Maybe 2x tops? at 800€?

It’s still at the end of the day a midi controller with fancy firmware. If oxi one can retail for 750 launch price and 879 for their mark 2… but different companies and different economics ofc.

Agree the marketing language is a bit cringe… but I do agree with the problem statement cause I’ve had it. Some audiences like being visually cued by the performers to know when a big moment is coming, but since I’m doing everything manually I always have resting stress face on. my hands are always occupied, especially for those big moments.

Sometimes once or twice during a set it would be nice to script, automate a few bits and have time to enjoy the performative aspect of being onstage, making eye contact with people in the audience etc

No sparking equipment or fans leaving the floor because of it though :rofl::rofl:

800

Neuzeit Instruments tell us that it’ll be priced at €799 and available in late summer.

I haven’t tried the M-Vave SMC Mixer but I had the Studiologic Mixface and I agree it is worth considering. On top of the faders etc it offers basic but useful DAW integration. The build quality is good (plastic but doesn’t feel cheap) and in my case a nice plus was the magnetic band underneath, which conveniently glued the controller on top of he keyboard.

Just got the SMC Mixer and blimey its amazing. Battery powered, bluetooth, phone app for changing settings, good feeling knobs, loads of buttons. Wish I hadn’t spent loads of money on a Uc4.

The upcoming 16n iteration called Faderpunk looks very powerful

Is anybody using these?

They are pricey but the feature set is quite impressive

I am very, very interested in this, it looks like an amazing performance tool. I don’t have any modular, but the midi capability looks really cool. Similar to the monolit above, but I think I prefer this more.

Yeah I have a feeling I will end up with one of these soon… I probably don’t need it but it looks like a ton of fun

I am looking at getting a fader MiDI controller and MPE controller that work with computer DAW software and hardware synths to replace my old Push 2 and Arturia Keystep. What would you recommend? Thoughts on Intuitive Instruments Exquis or maybe Maschine+ MK3 stand alone or Push 3?

Yeah, it reminded me a bit of the Monolit too. I wish it had a MIDI/CV looper function. Hopefully it will be easy to implement it.
