If I wind up in a place where there is only one guitar player to listen to ever, I will know I’ve died and gone to hell. But if it had to be so, it’d be Bill Frisell, hands down.
Playing drums here is the absolute master, Jim Keltner sounding like some mythological creature…

At one point last year I was walking past the Jackie Robinson Tennis Courts on Utica Avenue in Bed-Stuy and a group of elderly people were arranged in lines on one of the courts, doing slow taichi while a boombox in front was playing this guitar solo. I just stopped to watch and marvel. I don’t think I’ll ever forget that.
