Erica Synths PĒRKONS HD-01

I bought one last week. So far, I’m glad I did.

Can anyone recommend a stand for the Perkons?

I’m using the Soundrise drum machine stand. Mainly because I had it laying around but it’s been working well so far. No wobble, very sturdy. Soundrise Pad Stand | Foam Drum Machine & Mixer Stand

Has anyone here moved from a TR-8s to a Perkons? I’m curious to hear your experience. I’ve been very happy with my 8s, but I’ve really been loving what I’m seeing and hearing from the Perkons.

Apples and Oranges right?

Granny Smith to Empire? I mean, they’re both apples right. Just a different variety.

I know most of the trade-offs, I’m just curious to hear if anyone made the switch, and how they’re feeling about it.

If you like the sort of sounds you’re getting from the TR8S, you might not be a massive fan of the sound of the Pērkons. It’s not going to give you a 707 kick or some 909 hats, it really does sound its own way.

Aside from all the workflow shit, you really have to like the sound of it, as even though it wrings a lot of of four voices, it isn’t going to cover the bread and butter sounds or have the level of flexibility that the TR8S has.

Cheers. I appreciate your take.

I do really like the sound of it, and I’m really loving machines that are as direct as possible. It seems to fit that brief to a T.

Hopefully I’ll be able to try one soon enough, and I’ll have a better idea after that.

It’s just so appealing.

It’s probably crap though. Over-rated. Only mono… I mean come on. Probably not worth it in 2022. Clearly only popular because some paid YouTube clickbaiters have been pushing it.

I’m not really liking the BBD on my Perkons, so I want to try some other pedal on the send FX. Any suggestions for some interesting FX pedals to try? What have Perkons owners tried?

agree the drum samples are massive on mine. Pair with the A4+DN and OT no issues making banging beats for days.

So… Perkons and Pulsar-23 owners out there… if you had to choose one, what would it be? I love them both so much but can’t justify this much gear atm, ha.

I am leaning Perkons bc the pulsar, while extremely creative and endless - is quite a time suck / black hole of creation in the very best and worst way. Meanwhile the Perkons is super fast, fun, and save-able.

I dig my Perkons so far, but I’m having an issue with the PER STEP ODD function.

The manual describes the function as “You can program the ODDS of playing a step on the PĒRKONS HD-01, meaning, that with odds 1/2, the relevant step will be played every second time the sequencer is activating the step.”

When I use this function, the opposite is occurring. Instead of the step being played every second time the step is activated, it is played the first time. I find this far less useful. I’m not sure if this is a bug or not.

Update for those waiting for their pre-orders to be shipped - I asked Erica about my pre-order and they said I should expect it to be shipped in 5 weeks’ time. I placed the order on July 12th 2022. Hope it’s useful!

Mine works the same way as yours, and I agree it would be more useful if it worked as described in the manual.

I’m surprised nobody has mentioned this before. They should update the OS. Maybe give additional inverse functions by having both ODD 1 and ODD 2 buttons engaged at the same time.

I had that issue as well.

Can everyone please open a support ticket about it so it becomes a prioritized update?

how are u liking the perkons so far? im very not sure with the sound, its sounds too digital and plastic in my opinion, i love however the workflow on this one so i might consider to buy it just because of that

I hope they agree to do that. It seems like maybe it was some outdated text in the manual, as the button labels are accurate to how it operates (1/2, 1/3, 1/4, 1/8). If they wanted it the other way then the labels would have read 2/2, 3/3, 4/4, 8/8.

While we’re on the ODDS subject, I also find it less useful that the ODDS2 selections work the way they do. 3/4 plays 3 times then skips 1, meh. I think they would be more useful as single hits, as in play once on the 3rd time around.
