I don’t own a perkons, but i see it like this:
It is what it is! Maybe there will be some workflow fixes or something but I don’t expect big additions.
Did the 909 ever get a big firmware update?

They do since the latest update.
On a few algorithms it only affects the transient of the voice. Which might seem subtle but its very useful.
Exactly, it’s amazing as is. But it’s capable of getting updates and I don’t think the 909 was!
Any idea how to tell which firmware is installed? I don’t know if mine came shipped with 1.0
I tried downloading the firmware on the site but it won’t open, says it’s corrupted :-/
If you’ve downloaded the .img file, just put it on the root folder of the Pērkons’ SD card, then put the SD back in the Pērkons and turn it on with all four voice buttons pressed and wait for it to do its thing.
Also, on firmware 1.0, if you hold shift and turn any of the voice controls it will work like a control all and change that parameter for all voices until you release shift, when it will return to previous values.
Okay so I made a little (10 minute) recording of my jamming with the PĒRKONS tonight.
It’s the most fun machine I’ve used for a long time. Creating and saving patterns and kits on the fly, then switching between them seamlessly, stimulates some primal part of my brain and I just don’t want to stop when I get started!
OK, which means it’s the same root as the Finnish word PERKELE. Awesome.
Gracias!
Oooooh what stand do you have it on?
It’s one of those little folding metal adjustable laptop stands from Amazon. I should have used two of them really, was a bit wobbly!
How’s the MIDI CC on this one? An you switch algos via MIDI, or similar slightly more advanced stuffs?
Great jam @Claid
Every knob and switch for all four voices has a midi cc number, which can be personalised by changing the numbers on the text file on the SD card.
Thanks! Good news indeed – Erica sometimes have small blinds spots that take you by surprise, not so with Perkons’ MIDI CC!
Yeah, the only things that aren’t addressed by either control all or midi CCs are the master controls for the delay, compressor and volume.
Fantastic jam! I don’t need a Perkons but i want one.
Here is my and my friends last song. First one using Perkons for drums and more of using it for “IDM” style. Also lightly used a Machinedrum for additional percussion.
Yes we love Erica Synths gear but I will wait a year.
Looks like there’s 8 in stock at three wave music
I am planning to wait next year as well.
By then more solid honest reviews will exist and I may be able to try one out in a store. I’m busy learning my new Elektrons and a new DAW fo4 now.
