Yeah I think I would agree with that. It kinda seems to me that the sample or ‘rompler’ channel on the Perkons is there because they wanted good hats and they’re inspired by the 909; and with this update, all they’ve done is opened up that (very small) sample allocation for users to do what they like. But I don’t think the machine as a sample-player was ever at the forefront of it’s design. It’s an afterthought.
It is what it is, and they didn’t have to do it. I’m glad that they did!
The manual doesn’t specify, but I’m pretty sure the output is unbalanced (typical for 90% of mono output synths). If it was balanced they’d probably advertise it as a feature as it means more expense on their part.
Im getting some serious gas for the Perkons it looks amazing from the youtube videos ive watched of what this thing is capable of and its definitely hands on just what i’m looking for
Im just watching your Perkons youtube videos right this min and lusting after one your definitely bad for my bank balance as im just about to pull the plug on one
I agree on the menus/screens. I wanted to get away from computer but ended up with a load of tiny screens. I now have 4 main instruments that are screenless and one with a tiny screen I hardly use. As a former trumpet player these all feel much more like instruments to me. And it forces me into more of a habit of always recording good luck with your Perkons, I find it to be massively fun to play. Is #screenless the new ‘dawless’?
That sounds like a good deal. I wanted the OG colour so paid a little extra as the small retailer holding one in stock wanted OG price, I paid £1595. Juno had black for £1554 I think.
Perkons, Pulsar, Buchla Music Easel and Subphatty. And I count the Solar 42F which has a tiny screen for keyboard settings etc. Use OT as performance mixer, master clock and MIDI sequencer and A4 for hard analogue kicks, sequenced clock to the Solar and FX processing of the other synths…been planning to try it as poly synth too.
You get a year with Juno but I think Erica’s warranty extends further than that.
Deffo use the ‘click for better price’ button with Juno. I bought a Perkons for around £1550 over a year ago. Big discounts at the time just for speaking to a bot.
I got more than 4 instruments without a screen and it was never really a problem for me.
I got all the knobs and faders right there in front of me, so I think it´s all about learning, practise and exploring to get the sounds that I like.
Mfb Dominion 1 has a 3 digit dot screen. I only use it in manual mode so I have no real use for it since I never save sounds or recall presets. For me it´s a good way to learn the instrument.
