Erica Synths LXR-02 Desktop Digital Drum Synthesizer

that’s how i’ve used mine for years, does well in that role. i’ve had few issues or headaches, tho i haven’t used it to any significant depth of features… just making & tweaking sounds and kits, triggering from external. i’d recommend it.

This machine is well worth it as a sound module imo

The module has been rock solid for me. I use OT+CVOCD to sequence it, and I couldn’t be happier with how that all functions. I send OT crossfader info to the morph parameter for extreme sound changes on a fly, it’s a great combo. Takes some time to set up but then it just works!

I thank god every day that i bought one. It’s been a favorite for years.

It’s compact and holds its own sonically against both Jomox and Elektron. Top piece of kit. I trigger mine from my OT midi channel.

My wishful conspiracy is that they took over firmware development to get cozy with it and implement those engines into a new machine. Something like the Perkons or Hexdrum layout with these LXR voices!? Man, I’d love that.

I do wish you could flip through and load individual drum instrument presets, not just full kits. I understand the voices have the ability for cross-mod with the LFOs but to have some starting points per voice, they could just not use those on the patch.

I have an LXR-02 on the way, with the usual concerns about fiddly workflow. But you never know until you use the damn thing.

Sound wise, it’s riiiiiight up my alley. I figure I need to try it. Any thoughts overall for someone used to elektron?

My ideal workflow is just kind of getting a quick and vibey beat going, manipulating things live while I record into daw (and process/mangle further as needed. ) - I don’t really need a full groovebox or the ability to make well laid out songs. Just jammability and some some sonic interest.

You’ll love it. Just read the manual closely and you’ll be good to go.

Aaaaaaaand I’ve just bought a Oxi One MKII.

I may as well pick up a used LXR-02 :joy:

…….or I just wait for the Hexdrums…….or just get both.

FFS.

Great! There’s a lot to explore between OXI and LXR 02. The OXI sequencer is amazing, and velocity works perfect. The sound palette of LXR02 in my opinion is huge.

I have not tried to trigger from an external source, what are the benefits? I do like the sound of mine , I keep meaning to have it run through my syntakt for the fx block. Or buy an external filter for it that I can slap the entire output.

Does anyone found a good travel bag/case for LXR-02?

I’ve got an 12-year-old compact Waterfield Design case that’s been perfect for my LXR-02. I think the current equivalent is the Shinjuku Crossbody

You might want to check the secret PDF, it’s possible Analog Cases has a one that fits.

According to Sweetwater LXR-02 is 9.05" x 5.70" x 2.75", note that is slightly higher that the DB-01, so the case recommended for the DB-01 won’t fit.

I have no idea why finding a case is so hard.

any workflow and saving tips? save kit, save pattern , save project in that order ?

  • Turn autosave on.
  • Save a kit when you made a change you want to keep.
  • Save a pattern when you made a change you want to keep (that includes which kit is assigned to that pattern)
  • Save the project at least before you load a new one (I think saving at the end of a session is still good practice)
