Almost four years and this are still looks like Beta, unfortunately
I installed today morning and tested.
It took about 10 minutes until my unit played notes I didn’t sent to it.
I changed the track to edit voice (just changed track…) and it played ghost notes sent to another track. I verified it, restarted my unit - and again - unit went into box, storage room. See you next update then.
I don’t know,…
I mean it’s good that it gets some love, but I even can’t sell it, karma issues.
Perhaps other people are happy, but I’m not. Maybe my unit is kaput.
But if THAT is a problem for me, I’m a happy guy.
I have questions…
I love the sound of LXR so much (I sampled a lot of it…)
Is the eurorack module stable?
Does it what it should do?
I don’t want to spend hundreds if it’s a bug infested thing.
It should be the same since they share the same OS AFAIK.
Erica Synths should just abandon it and make a new vastly improved LXR-03 with more knobs, different colored LEDs, a bigger screen and a well thought out workflow like Elektrons.
I think the problems are coming from the sequencer, midi & stuff.
The module is just… bare naked in comparison.
Do you know, or do you guess?
Hm, quite like the form factor and what it offers for the size.
There are not so many drum machines featuring separate outs and so much sound design goodness in this form factor.
You mean something bigger or just more knobs?
I don’t own one but have really been on the brink of getting it several times.
(On the contrary, the Perkons have never raised my interest - way too big and the sound just doesn’t appeal to me)
Just guessing.
I wouldn’t mind if it was a little bigger. Yeah Perkons is way too big, I just really want to be able to use the LXR-02 reliably and I think it deserves a better UI.
I haven’t experienced any such issues before or after installing the new firmware. It does seem like the kind of unit where strange behaviour crops up from user to user at random times, though.
Lxr-02 and Vermona drm-1 are two of my fav drum synths atm! But this update is tbh laughable imo
Instead of many hrs Erica Synths should have invested just a few days! Do better pls
Can you go backwards with the new firmware to older ones? Thanks.
Yes, just find the older firmware file and install that. I did it once.
Has anyone reported all those bugs to Erica Synths!
I wonder if them taking over development and spending many hours means they ended up refactoring the whole code base from scratch. This could have been for performance or code maintenance reasons but this may be an awkward period until they hit their groove again.
…or it could be another in a long line of promising but underdelivered products…. I do have more faith in Erica than many other smaller brands.
To me it looks like the founder of sonic potions retired or something, and they need to learn what he coded.
I can imagine that is not an easy task at all.
“We have taken over the firmware development from Sonic Potions and after many hours of painstaking effort we are delivering a much needed maintenance update!”
If just Erica manages to resolve these bugs and adds step copy/paste functionality id be more than satisfied!
I noticed this as well and had to revert back to 1.6 I emailed Erica
Idem, now let’s fix it
You might have sold me on one with this comment.
Thank god I found this thread before buying one.
I love the form factor and most of the sounds, but it seems too much of a headache.
Luckily I love the sound of the Hexdrums, so I guess I’ll wait/save for that!
A shame. Thought it could be a great digital companion to an AR, thus freeing my DT a bit.
If you can control it externally, you’ll have a great sound machine. I use it with OXI one and is incredible. And I’m beginning to mapping a faderfox ec4 so most of the controls will be covered. The sound is great.
