They have their Cenk
(Kodek)
OMFG! I need this! I have a few of the Mutant Hex drum eurorack modules and the hot glue mixer for my modular setup and absolutely love these as best drum modules next to my WMD drum modules. I definitely will be saving up for this synth and also the new Jomox Alphabase MK2 and maybe Perkons or LXR 02 Sonic potions. What can I say, I am addicted to crazy drum and bass synths. They are the hearbeat of industrial and techno music.
I’m so ready to get down with this thing.
yea not cheap and I already have lots of Hex Inverter drum eurorack modules and other drum gear. I still want to try one out at a synth shop next year.
What? Looks very interesting. This week, I had a thought about Vermona releasing something new. Here it is.
Hexdrums or drumDING?
Was just thinking about to take the Jomox plunge for the first time, but i might wait for more demos of those new drumtoys.
If it had the ability to save presets I’d have to buy it. Kinda glad it doesn’t
I heard the rumour today on the Vermona sequencer.
Then I saw the picture and was disappointed-only because it probably is not what I am looking for. Not interested in another sampler and I want knob per function, which I am guessing this does not have-and is a move away from knob per function of the DRM1. I am still to see more details to fully rule it out.
When I saw the hexdrum picture-it was like they had made what I wanted.
Menu option or key combo for panning?
Yeah it’s hard to justify drum machines at or over 1k. So many modern devices that play samples that sound nearly identical to everything ever made
I like it! I can’t stop imagining the unit as semi-modular with the eurorack modules kind of intact on the front panels. I understand that the cost/price would be higher and the unit larger but that would be pretty dope and unique? Anyway, if the they can sell it for €1100 (as per Starsky’s comment) I thnik I’m buying…
£1100 is almost €1300, though.
Correct, I misread the currency! Damn it!
Looks like a modern classic out of the box. I guess Rytm is in real trouble now, assuming this will be significantly cheaper?
What is that second BD for? Basslines? Or would you use the third machine for synth stuff? Also a bit surprised that out of all the machines, the hats have the least options. Maybe I’m a weirdo, but hats are usually the drum sounds I like to tweak most, because they have the most character that can be slightly varied without being to obvious.
Sidenote: One thing I notice more and more when looking at non-Elektron sequencers is how hard they are to read for me. Imo, they’re still making it so much easier to understand and change sequences at a glance than most other manufacturers.
Anyone notice the knob for snare has a typo? Snapy the others are correct. I hope they caught that before they started a full production run (I’m well aware this doesn’t matter to anyone except me and maybe a few other picky little shits)…
I also want to know what the unlabeled button on the bottom left beside Reload is for.
Machine sounds very good, and I love the amount of hands on controls. I’m a big fan of blown out analog distortion on drum sounds though…
EDIT: I misread and thought the article mentioned hi hat samples, but it only mentioned crash and ride.
Based on the SynthAnatomy article, the hats crash and ride cymbals are sample-based. Article said there are “10 sets” of hats cymbals, so I’m guessing no user samples and you can select from different preloaded hats crashes / rides…
Well, they’re just so different. AFAIK this HexDrums doesn’t do user samples, has no P-locking, no extra modulation sources, not even velocity (just accent). But more to your point, I feel like the market has shrunk for Rytm over the last few years as more options for drum synths are around (including Elektron’s own Syntakt), and the MSRP for Rytm is so high.2
Bummer, hats are the drum elements where samples work the worst, for me personally. I know it’s different for a lot of people though and they prefer 909 hats.
About AR being different: agree on your points, but if you only want a fat analog drum machine, people will now get this over AR I assume.
