Elektronauts Hip-Hop Beat Battle #33: Native Tongues, Natural Sounds

Hi folks, I hope I’ll find the time to make a beat. Native Tongues is exactly my taste of Hip Hop! Here are my two samples:

Drums used in De La’s “The Business”

and since I have to watch a lot of animal videos in order to get my son’s teeth brushed:

Mos Def is a peripheral member of Native so I’m going to drop Polarizer from Joe Thomas sampled in one of my favorite tracks of all time which I’m sure you’ll recognize right off the top.

These are naturally occurring cave crystals being brushed up against inside of a deep spelunking cavern, hopefully that’s natural enough.

I made a wav out of it for ease of use, but this is the source of the audio:

I hope I can get something completed for this one, really enjoy what you all have been doing!

Here’s a nature sample, it’s from emulator stock sounds used on Pacific State

I was gonna record my own but I don’t think the roadworks with occasional shouts from the drunk couple at the end of the street that’s going on right now is gonna cut it :joy:

Quick question…
You say we have to use two of the native tongue based tracks submitted.

Is that the minimum and we can use more or is it must use two and two only?

I came back to re-read the mission brief with the same question.

I read this as “at least the number specified for each category” so meaning more is ok, less is not, but it’s probably better to get an official ruling before getting too deep into it.

@shigginpit @Yabba yes that’s just the minimum. Feel free to use as many as you like!

A lot of times a big part of the challenge is making a track with limited options or maybe not the most likely of sound sources. That’s why I pretty much made it so you could pick and choose from all the best of the best when it comes to music! We deserve it lol

I usually avoid picking classic samples cause it’s hard for me to unhear the beats that came out of them. Having every sample be a classic and forcing me to get more creative with chopping is probably good for me
