Elektron Transfer - Feature requests

I know this has been requested before… Can we get faster transfer rates? I’m backing up projects from the old DT so I can move on completely to the new one. I should be able to back up a whole project in 15-30s, especially the ones that don’t have samples on the A4, DN, ST. So much time spent doing this today that I lost the idea I was going to work on.

I ve been using the digitakt2 for a week now and would love to the see the above mentioned FR. Here are another two:

Suggestion 1)
Add labeling feature to Transfer. I’ve been moving tons of files and would be very useful to have a way to add the same label to multiple files/folders

Suggestion 2)
Support parallelization on data transfer. This one I’m not sure if it’s feasible since I don’t know the what’s under the hood in Digitakt2 or the other products, and I’m not familiar with the MIDI Protocol. TBH, if it would be faster, no parallelization is needed.
Current transfer speed is 0.5 MB/S which feels too slow for these modern days

Note:I’m not sure if this is the correct topic, please let me know

The option to make backups of Project files in DIGITAKT II …

a) with samples (as per usual)
b) without including the samples - with warning
c) with only the used samples included - with warning

because when I work on music on the DTII, I dump hundreds of samples into the project until the songs might be finished :stuck_out_tongue:

EDIT: This is mainly about being able to just save the project. Since DTII and Transfer recognizes which samples are which, one doesn’t need to keep redundant copies of tons of samples inside project files.

You could just ''select unused" then “unload” ? (After first doing FUNC + Samples, then “Project RAM”, then right menu).

I know, but I don‘t want to (see above) [and option C is more important in my eyes. I can load my samples up again any time and DTII will recognize them.]

Hello Everybody, with the recent release of transfert 1.9 and Digitone 2 some ancient ghosts of the past emerged.
I digged into my old digitone projects, such an old and vast collection of ideas , jams & experimentations .
Now here’s the point . I won’t be able to collect all these ideas into one, refreshed and organized project Unless:

Elektron gives us the functionnality to export/import and save individuals patterns , so we can create the dream project for live performance !

What do you think ?

Love the idea of being able to move patterns between projects in transfer. +1

i wonder if anyone has ever tinkered with some sysex tool or third party software to achieve this ? (or maybe in overbridge )While waiting for this

dunno about DT but there is a max tool for rytm that has implementation for patterns/kits etc., I think somewhere in the docs there’s a mention of a thread about sysex charts, worth taking a look

Also there is Elk-herd

There is also [FUNC], but I agree that this is something Elektron should support themselves. With all the recent updates and revisions, it is hard for 3rd party developers to keep up.

Add sample management for Octatrack :ok_man:

Where renaming or moving a file within the CF card would update the projects where this file is used (and avoid 'missing sample scenarios")

cf File manager for Octatrack

Would love it for Transfer to back up and manage kits from the DT2.

(Previously requested in the wrong place.)

hi,

been a long time octatrack user but now DT II so after uploading my samples and waiting almost 2 hours for this slow app to finish I realized you cant move folders with transfer?
How old is the octatrack 12-13years ? and you can move copy and paste with it however you want but in 2025 this basic feature is missing?

How do you organize your files and folders later on when you record samples and create audio files. How to manage files and folders without move copy and paste?
and no usb 3 in 2025??!

It can be done fairly easily. Drag and drop can be done with files and folders.

I’ve always thought that Elektron should put on its payroll the guy who created Elk Herd, I don’t understand what they’re waiting for to make that app an official release

Native Linux compatibility, but running this on Wine seems to work well enough - I wouldn’t expect trying to do much more substantial than backups or upgrades at the moment.

I would love for Transfer to

  1. Have a way of Transfer showing me if a given sample in the Library is used in any Project.
This way if i decide to remove a folder i immediately know it will not be missed.

  2. Be able to preview samples inside Transfer.

by the loading speeds of the DT i would be happy if it came even close to using the transfer speeds of a Usb 2 to its full potential tbh

tl;dr: please add the option to sum stereo to mono instead of dropping the Right channel

I have other tools to do pre-convert and stage files but having this option in Transfer would be tremendous. Keep the current behavior too, I just want to be able to choose without resorting to a non-Transfer workflow.
