IF this thing really ends up costing the mentioned 250-300e from the Sonicstate video, it’s an insta-buy/pre-order for me, not even hesitating. This pretty much solves so many “I wish I could do this” situations with my dawless rig, where I always use “the holy trinity” as the core. And if they manage to push it down to 250e, I’ll most likely get two of these right out of the gate (one for DN2 and one for ST). For me this is a really exciting announcement. ![]()
I’m really interested to use this just with my dn2 and only cv stuff for my semimodular .
I hope the outbox update for it also opens up some midi feature like arp and retrig
So with the AR mk2 you could use this for processing the tracks (or some of the tracks) separately and then have them all go through the master distortion and comp?
I know I know.
It’s just so small and cute! Most interfaces seem to be quite a bit thicker than this.
Would it be possible to send 8 individual tracks through the Outbox 8, and another 8 track into your DAW using traditional Overbridge simultaneously?
Instabuy for me without question and to be fair this is reasonable price wise
Thank you @Elektron! I’m so grateful as this is something I have specifically requested.
Now I can soon send tracks to my H90 effect for big granular/shimmer/phaser/reverb treatment and have my drums and everthing else unaffected. And while I’m at it I’ll probably send some to my Microcosm too. Also MIDI to CV out is such a cool addition!
I see a lot of people discuss the shame it is that Outbox only works with Elektrons. Didn’t EZBot mention Elektron is “trying” to make it work with other machines, just not making any promises yet? (check the end, around 2:30)
Wanted this from long time ! I got 6 elektron machine one power brick for them this is what I wanted !
The Midi to CV functionality is a nice bonus but I’m a little surprised people are only now realizing this potential since you have always been able to do this with other converters for years and years?
Check out Eurorack modules such as Befaco’s Midi Thing V2 and LPZM Tram8, you’re not going to be limited to 8 CV outputs.
I just bought a ko sidekick, send 4 channels to cv, then send some drums to the ko ep-136 and back in for some fun fx. Going to be some cool setups possible with this thing
Ok, after the Sonicstate video there are some things clearer:
The CV is just transformed Midi infos, plus it can be the clock. So anything being Midi in an Elektron could be sended as CV.
Means that it is indeed possible to Multisample Modular stuff (even with Hz/Oct) without having a Midi-CV adapter cause thats what the Outbox is in this case. For proper cool stuff you would just have to set up one channel converting the vel amount to CV. And having an idea what to use it for in your synth/patch of course.
Module version of the Outbox 8 would be a total game changer ![]()
yes but you’re saving precious HP here, just another power cord !
Made a post related to that here: Utility Boxes: Outbox 8, Powerhub, Overhub II - #25 by ThomasJ
I think that Outbox8 would really be cool for DT I and 2, DN2, Syntakt and Tonverk ( if it was OB enabled).
I do not see value added for ARmk2 A4MK2 and DN1
The added value for the DN1 is CV out on the MIDI channels.
Yeah AR and A4 already have individual outs. It’s Digis this’ll revolutionise.
Could you explain “Host Mode” as pertaining to Tonverk vs. Digitakt II?
Exactly, I was going to get a midi to cv module but this could be more useful.
