This is because people with more money than sense buy on day one, and even pre-order. The update culture basically means that companies can release barely working or downright broken stuff and sell it with the promise that they will fix it in an update.

Yeah, but- at least with Elektron- the update culture also implies extended functionality

For now. How long before you have to buy a ā€œLoot boxā€ to give you that extra musical edge!

Only if Electronic Arts, Activision or Ubisoft buys Elektron…

I really hope elektron haven’t become another company with only priority to release new products without further support. Selling for big figures great marketing, branding but no support. As loyal customer for more than 5 years I would be really disappointed to see this happens. It would definitely lower my trust against company. I’m not against any new inventions or development but I think it’s important to finish one job before focusing on new projects. I see elektron keep looking for software developers constantly which makes me even more concerned. it’s not easy to make hardware but real value and uniqueness of those machines is hidden in software.

I do think that spending so much time on Overbridge almost guarantees Elektron releasing OB compatible devices.
That can only be good for hardware already using OB. Also droping the idea of two separate OBs makes the whole process simpler & more efficient for Elektron.

I’m surprised people get so worried.
I’m pretty sure Elektron will deliver for all of their products.
We got Trig Conditions on the OT for crying out loud.

Yes of course. But it’s always a battle between developers and publisher. Usually the programmers know that the game/application isn’t ready, but the people who finance the whole thing, give pretty hard deadlines. I have some experience in programming(I wanted to become a programmer in my teens) and i know that even the simplest things can be extrem complex to program.

Only if enough people stop to preorder, things may change.

Trig Conditions weren’t even on the map for Elektron back then.
Then they said over and over it would not make it to the OT.
They didn’t have to provide it but they did.

I’m getting anxious. 26 mins

I don’t think that lesser amount of preorders would solve anything.

Software development is getting more complex all the time. Refactors and better work organisation is the way to go imo but those things tend to happen only when software development complexity reaches the critical point and it seems that Elektron just reached it.
