This won’t end well.
omg
Feels like a weird move for Bonnier?
Don’t know anything related to the financial health of Elektron - anyone know anything that might related?
We should have bought more Tonverks, guys ![]()
Sonic State’s take on the story:
I wouldn’t mind buying some Elektron shares, actually ^^
I have zero confidence that this will be good in any way for Elektron customers.
If I was head of communications, I would definitely think about ways to inform your user base and (potential) customers a bit more. There hasn’t been a single acquisition on the planet where everything stayed exactly the same, so you owe it to your customers to be open about that and inform them swiftly. Also good to tell a bit more about the culture and business vision of the aqcuirer.
Agreed. It currently hasn’t even made it to the News page of this very website.
Unfortunately not familiar with Bonnier, nor does their website list any holdings or exits I am familiar with either.
Some PE is relatively OK, for example Leica camera was rescued from the brink and turned profitable over a long holding period under PE.
Much of it is not very good though and I don’t know what bucket Bonnier falls into.
Being a 200 year old family owned parent company and European is at least a couple pluses relative to say Apollo.
They are a venture capital company buying something outside of their wheelhouse…what could possible go wrong!
Next step (maybe after earn outs, a few years) senior/founding Electron staff leave (its very hard to stay if you were an owner and VC takes over, I speak from experience)
hopefully they’ve invested only to support the missing AR/A4 features ![]()
I hear they are fully committed to OT3
“octatrack users will be very happy” - bonnier
Are they publicly traded?

Let the enshittification begin.
Well, Elektron’s communication skills can only benefit from Bonnier’s experience . ![]()
Real talk - what happens to this place when they inevitably decide to turn the screw?
