Drift DJ Industries Zero

I think it looks pretty handy - not for serious DJing but as a handy way to play your own stuff along with a hardware setup, the midi clock and CV seem to be handy, and the tempo change sounded pretty good in the clip. Interested to see how it develops, I am not a DJ but this looks like I could have a bit of fun improvising with pre recorded stems and synced sequencers.

Thanks for posting. Just saw a demo of this and thought it seems cool. I would definitely prefer MIDI out but I understand the size considerations in this device. Great design and execution! I hope they deliver on-time and on-budget.

I’m also wondering what similar/related devices are out there. Multiple outputs on a small device looks like a unique feature.

Do not buy this to learn DJing. If portability is key, use your smartphone with software like djay or rekordbox, use your computer, and/or buy a ddj-flx2. Or buy two turntables and a mixer.

If it doesn’t have (at least) two pitch controls, two level controls, and two decks, then it’s not DJing, it’s something else. Buying one of these to learn how to DJ is like buying a Swiss Army knife to fix up your home.

Im just rocking a pioneer ddj rev 1 atm, I’ve had more expensive controllers that did less, I’m all for compact solutions but with dj controllers it’s a bad choice imho, I only use mine for scratching etc but I tried the reloop ready as really compact controller and you soon realise just how big of a deal shrinking this stuff gets, it really hampers how useable this stuff is…

They have a bit to do, though the hardware looks near complete. Exciting to see this making it to the finish.

This seems more like the sort of finished product you might see from a larger company like a Roland or something. Watch this one go.

I’m sure its fine for some folks, but for me personally, if I want to DJ on the go, its hard to beat Algoriddim DJay on the iPad. This looks smaller no doubt, but also much more fiddly

At first I was not interested at all

Now I’m considering it to sort of DJ between two M8’s :grimacing:
(because USB MIDI+audio host)

What a rad idea for a freaking awesome setup. I’m so excited for this unit.

Just one tiny issue: the price

Yeah I was definitely shocked to see what it had jumped to. I’ve already paid full price at the original point, and grateful that I did because otherwise I wouldn’t be able to obtain this thing.

How much dinero we talking here?

I think it’s like $900.

Whew. You can get a whole lotta DJ controller for that money. I get the portability factor but dang.

Silver lining, I thought $900 was excluding VAT

But where I am, it’s priced €780 including VAT

So I guess 900 includes VAT as well?

I also think it’s overpriced, and probably won’t buy it for that reason

But it’s much more than a DJ controller, I’d say

Americanos no VAT. :face_with_spiral_eyes:

True that. I suppose in somebodies bespoke hybrid or dawless setup it could be really useful.

Would like a bit more comfort around the build quality at this price, looks a bit ‘3d printer’. I dont know, I was pretty hyped for this but cant justify the price

Same. Says its ABS plastic, but for that price I would prefer a metal enclosure.

From the shown quality its a sbc in a cheap enclosure. Not worth 800 or above
