Dreadbox Murmux Adept

This is basically an Abyss 2, it seems to me. A stereo Abyss, with twice the number of voices and a second oscillator. I love the spread control. Same Murmux filter, similar sound, and the form factor is similar. Wish I had the moolah.

3346€ incl. VAT

I love everything about this except the price.

It’s a bit funny how a company can at one end make a 5 voice poly for under 500 and then at the other end a 8 voice poly for over 3k

I wonder which components drag up the price to such an astronomical extent.

Don’t you live in Sweden? At Thomann Germany it’s 2.699€. It should be easy to send this to an adress in Germany or another EU country and have it shipped to Sweden without additional fees except for postage. Unless you feel bad about this.

Will it make a difference. The price is surely high.

Oh damn; this doesn’t come at the right moment for me.
Look like a abyss v2 for sure by looking at the face plate (except osc 2). Still it sounds totally different from my abyss v1.

So much midi CC :no_mouth:

Looks like it’s already a classic. Would love some more mass production and a cheaper price even if it still sounds honest.

The first couple of demos I heard did not sound like my Abyss v1—especially the demo from Dreadbox itself—but the Anderton’s one made me realize that it can sound similar to the Abyss.

I impulsively ordered one even though I really shouldn’t have. It sounds so amazing to me and I don’t want to miss out.

Same here. I hate these limited runs. Let’s see how it sounds in person. Really liked that last paddy patch on the Anderton’s videos, the FX and spread section in combination with the filter and FM sound really special.

Totally agree. I’m really surprised people aren’t going more nuts for this and that they’re still available.

Impressed by the limited demos. Not impressed by the limited availability.

I ordered one too - it looks and sounds so immediate and beautiful, I had to have one.

Sounds like it might just sell out by the show, and they can just pack it away.

Anyone from the US pre-order one? I noticed Perfect Circuit has pre-orders open. With such a limited run, I’m curious how they allocate stock for different stores around the world. For instance, what if 300 people immediately order directly from Dreadbox? What happens to retail pre-orders in that case?

I wasn’t really into that Andertons demo. He was not finessing any sweet spots, had the resonance too high, and made lame sounds. I’ve been listening to this over and over though. So good.

FYI there’s a “Drive” function in the menus.

Also, look at everything that can be modulated by midi.

I assume each dealer got a certain allocation, and Dreadbox reserved some for themselves. I ordered from Sweetwater.

have to listen to this when I’m back home tomorrow. I agree that the Anderton’s guy did a lot of crap, that “bass” demo was completely useless. The constant jumping between extreme settings didn’t help. The LFO demos also kinda sucked. But there were still lots of moments when the filter began to sing with the effects that sounded utterly beautiful.

Oh my…I really don’t want to spend that kind of money atm…I hope it’ll sell out before I crack :joy:

He attempts to make a “buttery” bass and one of the first things he does is crank the resonance to full blast. When the filter predictably squeals due to this, he tries to fix it by drastically lowering the tuning.

Of course, this doesn’t remove the high resonance. When he finally lowers the resonance, he realizes the patch has been unnecessarily tuned down too low. Finally, he proceeds to make a discordant drone.

Worst demo ever.
