It’s based on the same circuit as the v1 as far as I am aware. I never had or noticed much trouble with the stability myself in all honesty, so couldn’t comment with any authority!

I think the v1 was through hole soldered whereas the reissue is SMT, if I’m not mistaken (I might very well be).
Not that it makes a big difference. The Erebus v1 is one of my most priced synths, I love its rowdy, lively and full-sounding nature!

It would be cool if Dreadbox introduced a eurorack module with just the Erebus and Hades oscillators.
Erebus + Hades
I got a Hades a few weeks ago, and at first the signal from it was kind of weak. I swapped the TRS cable out for a TS and holy mother of whatever god you pray to, this thing makes monster bass! I think I finally understand phase cancelation. I paired it with an Erebus and it rattled the crap out of the room. The Keystep 37MK2 makes these two very immediate for evolving pieces.

Hey do you have usb hum or ground loops?
Are both good? I’m thinking of picking up the hades for that bass sound, isn’t Erebus kinda the same? Like Minotaur and sirin?
I get an almost unnoticeable 60 cycle hum, which was there before the Dreadboxes entered the equation. Both Dreadboxes are plugged into the USB’s on this PSU, along with a Keystep and a Hologram Microcosm. The aforementioned PSU is plugged into a Furman SS-6B-Pro which also powers a Digitakt, Yamaha CK61, RC-505MKII, Mackie 802VLZ4 and a pair of DBR10 PA’s and a DXS12 sub.
The Erebus could probably replace the Hades but it’s not going to. I like the wider variety of modulations and tones it produces. The Hades is straight up bass. The Erebus works well in all registers.
I have the Hades connected to one of the single line in channels on the Mackie and the Erebus goes into the only remaining choice, the Tape In. I chose this because I like to loop phrases from the Hades to the 505 via ALT3-4, but prefer to play the Erebus either manually or sequenced by the Keystep and don’t need to loop it.
It’s really nice that you can play a sequence with the Keystep on one unit, and then use the keyboard channel to manually play the other one while the sequence continues to run on the first unit.
It’s been a long road coming to this point and I really like this setup. It fits what I do very well. I can’t say that I’m out of GAS since I would like to add an overall, end of chain effect, but I really have no idea what that would be. A DJ mixer would probably be the best choice but I don’t want to lug one of those around.

After a good solid workout with these, I like them best together. When you play bass with both, it’s earth shattering 
you can play bass on the Hades and add some higher registers on the Erebus, then twizzle some knobs on the Erebus and quickly make good evolving sequences (Keystep) that go well with the bass.
It’s really easy to swap back and forth between playing Hades or Erebus solo or together. Flip the midi switch to OMNI on the box you want to set the midi channel. Send a note. Then flip the switch back to channel. Switch channels on the Keystep back and forth to play each box independently. Switch the silent box to OMNI and start playing both together immediately.
If I had to pick just one I’d say the Erebus, because it does more. I’m fortunate that I can keep both for a while and see if I can’t rattle some windows loose.

Making use of Hades range of LFO speeds for modulating Erebus is whats up…
They are quite the pair.
I love mine, and have decided that they are in the family. Not going anywhere.
They both can get super gnarly…and very chill too.
Playing Hades filter while driving both subs with a decent shot os resonance can bring out such gorgeous harmonics.
