Very kind words, thanks so much!

Just want to join in and say that I just got Drambo and used it for the first time.

Sweet Jesus what an app.

Definitely in the top 5 iOS music apps ever released. For me, it’s between Drambo and AUM for the top spot.

for me Drambo turned to be the most productive environment on terms of ready tracks.
i used to use computer/DAW for arrangement, and never liked that – but instantly loved Drambo.
because all major DAW timelines are bases on same old tape recorder metaphor – and Drambo is not.

I added a midi controller with crossfader to Drambo. I changed from just sequencing in Drambo, to just jamming out with some loops for hours. I never used an octatrack, but I now see how the crossfader is so awesome in a ‘live’ setup.

I don’t know if this is a Drambo specific question, or more of a general iOS music question, but how does one go about performing a live set with multiple projects in Drambo? Or should I prepare sets using only one project and different scenes?

I’m totally new to iOS, audio units, etc.

You can load Drambo as an AU in Drambo, but only if those instances are comprised of Drambo-only instruments. If you can build a set with only internal sounds, you could in theory have at least (at most?) 16 projects loaded into one, and then go from there.

It’s the only option. You can’t switch Drambo projects with Midi Program Change. Even if you could, there would be big lags and sync problems due to loading different module configurations, let alone AU generators / processors etc.

Maybe it would be possible to implement midi program change within a project, as in no change of modules possible, no external AUs loaded. Even with such a limitation, it would be very, very powerful. Then again, as a layman, I imagine it could / would be a minefield for the developer (the wonderful Giko) to implement. I got Drambo when it came out ( before it could host AUs) and asked Giko about this:

Any beatstep (non pro) Drambo users here?

Sounds cool! Which controller?

It was the cheapest one, I could find.
The Devine EZ-Creator Fade USB/MIDI controller.
I wanted to know how fun a crossfader would be, before saving up for an akai apc 40 mk2 :slightly_smiling_face:

Yes, but I’ve not done much with the combination yet

Nice, I didn’t know the APC 40 mk2 could be mapped with iOS app

You might consider using Drambo inside AUM or LoopyPro, could transition from one instance of Drambo to another using a drum machine/synth/sampler/etc to bridge to gap, and the host could handle sync/timing etc.

There are many ways to skin a live set within the iOS environment.
