Drambo (iOS)

How to keep loop length while recording ?
I set length to 16, then it change length after playing with external midi…

I assume you mean the Clip length? Auto grow during recording is set to On by default so turn this off in the Tempo settings:

Thanks @echo_opera, Perfect ! I don’t want to grow anymore.

On my iPhone it looks like this : :zonked:

So it works as I wanted, now I can overdub notes and record them in DN2 !

How to hide this (don’t know terms)

And mute tracks ? I disabled midi output, but I got stuck notes…

iPhone Drambo UI is PITA…

Tap on the Track header in the Mixer and scroll down to change Mute type to MIDI in order to Mute midi tracks.

Do you have your device font sizes changed by chance? You could also work in landscape to see if fonts reflow.

Yes. Getting old…

So thanks again, it worked on Drambo, but DN2 records notes with length 128 steps and I don’t know why. Extremely annoying, I give up for now before going crazy. :zonked:

Drambo is synced to DN2, I play notes on a DN midi track, channel 1. Notes are properly recorded in Drambo, played by DN2. Then I record in DN2, mute Drambo : recorded notes last 128 steps… :weary:
Time for a beer.

Edit : seems to work after a DN2 reboot, stuck notes due to wrong mute mode apparently put a mess, DN2 became buggy even recording a regular keyboard from midi din…

Enough for today ! Thanks again @echo_opera !

Put a Section module in to hide stuff.

You can then close and open that section.

Add another Section to have a mix of hidden and unhidden etc.

Thanks I realised that with my iPad, easier to start with ! Everything seems to work nicely now, but it was nightmarish at first with these stuck notes and weird DN2 behavior…
Drambo seems very deep, I don’t need all this for now !

It’s depth is it’s strength! And the time you spend working it out, can seem frustrating, but it opens so many doors in the future.

It’s the most useful tool in my whole setup, for sure!

Not very efficient these days, and keeping it for Digitone 2 for now…

Another great thing about Drambo is that it’s extremely useful for midi manipulation. I built this midi rack that lets me morph between cc settings on my Korg Minilogue.

Basically I load a patch on the Minilogue, slightly twist the knobs to register the current cc values of the parameters I want to morph, then press the morph assign button and move the knobs on the Minilogue to wherever I want the patch to go. Alternatively, I can change patches and then twist the knobs to register their ‘morphed’ state of the new patch.

Then I just move the morph knob (or assign it to external control) and morph between the two settings with one knob turn. Opens up quite a few options on synths that have external cc control but don’t have morph or macro functionality.

Is there a way to change the default routing in drambo?
Im trying to route the whole app to my sp404 cue input so that i dont hear the metronome when resampling the 404

Might be possible.

What’s the issue exactly, you need a metronome whilst resampling, but you don’t want to record the metronome?

What’s your hardware? Do you have multiple outs on the Ipad? If so, I’d fake a metronome using a sampler and simply send it to alternative outputs.

Automation… bug or not?

I’m using an external knob to automate an on-screen knob. The knob is linked to a MIDI generator to send a CC.

When I automate it, it automates correctly.

However, I now want to clear the automation completely. So I’ve tried going to the relevant clip, and selecting Delete. This removes the little arrow, but not the little white marker on the knob.

I’ve tried Remove p-locks, doesn’t work.

Seems like nothing will remove the white marker except re-loading the project.

I wouldn’t care about the white marker, except… when it’s there the knob no longer functions (whether moved onscreen or via MIDI).

Is this a bug?

Can anyone confirm similar behaviour? Or has a solution please?

Maybe try double tap on the knob and select “remove automation track” from the menu?

Cheers, should have mentioned I tried this in my post!

Pretty sure it’s a bug… just not sure if caused by the size of my project (or something in my setup) or happening for everyone.

I was trying to record samples from drambo to a sp404 mk2 with a metronome but i “fixed” the issue by setting the usb routing to “LINE OUT” on the 404

Does anyone else clock Drambo externally?

With great success? Or problems?

I’m asking because I’ve tried a lot of ways, but it seems that Drambo will often drift out of sync after a while.

Is it even possible to clock an Ipad reliably?

I can get round MIDI clock looseness on Mac by using audio-sync, which works very well.

But how to make an Ipad sync well? And for a long time?!??
