I might be about to get my hands upon an doepfer Regelwerk in the next few days… In order to get some control of my MD and MnM.
Anyone on here have an opinion in regards to this unit?
What would you pay, given that the unit is older than 20 years and faders cannot be replaced, as the manufacturer is not around anymore?

20 years for Doepfer corresponds to 2 weeks for a human.
There is always a risk but in your place I would not hesitate,
their material is particularly well designed and resistant.

yes, I was thinking the same, acted fairly quick so the seller putted it on hold for me.
I was/am actually on the hunt for a faderfox but the Doepfer seemed quite tempting. Finding out that it is the old revision was a bit of a bummer. For the newer units one can still get the alps faders for replacement

I envy you. I wanted one of these when they were new but never got around to ordering one. Good luck if you go with it. Hopefully you’ll share your thoughts on it.

Had one many years ago, was lots of fun paired up with my old E-MU E5000 sampler
Mine was also the older version with the non alps faders (which could be a hassle to replace)
Other thing to look out for would be that it has a rechargeable battery inside to retain sequences etc, make sure that hasn’t leaked as it can make quite a mess and require the pcb to be repaired
I wish you no damage and an inexpensive repair.

arghh, kind of want to further implement the unit into the setup, but i guess that might need to wait for a bit…

ah man, that is disappointing… 
i guess if it is still working well then that is something of a good sign - I only noticed the leak on my old one when it started going haywire. fingers crossed for no major/lasting damage if you can get it cleaned up and that battery replaced asap… good luck…

Did you manage to safe yours?
Yes, I had to get someone to repair the pcb and replace some components though. It didn’t cost a huge amount from memory but this was probably almost 20 years ago now…
I actually found some old photos I took of mine when it leaked, I’ll try to post them

Can at least in some points confirm!
Desoldered, opened up and resoldered the first 8 faders today in order to get them smoothly running without the old dust in there. The Radiohm’s still looked pretty fine once cleaned. Resistance is also looking sharp ^^
Now I have a third of the faders running as smooth as I suppose 20-25 year old faders can run. Tomorrow I’ll check in with the local technican in order to get a better grasp if the PCB with the battery needs more than a replacement.

Semi-bad news:
There are some other parts upon the PCB that need replacement. If I am lucky, I am good with some capacitors, resistors and IC sockets. If the pads are damaged as well it will be a whole lot more to do… I’ll try to source all the components this week in order to make an full replacement with battery and everything else needed.
Anyone here who likes to identify components? I am new to this and might need some help

Can be inquired with Doepfer directly or one of their authorized repairers.
It’s a bad time to go after when it will be connected to one or the other synth it will be magic.

some of the parts have been quite a pain to track down… I hope I got everything right that is in their service manual. Maybe someone with knowledge and or experience can double-check if these components seem correct…

A little email to Doepfer to see if they don’t have it in stock or an address to order the original / alternative.
I am not familiar with electronics but I think there are quite a few standard modules.
