Hi, today my analog heat +fx started with strange stripes on the display. is this a known issue? looks kind of strange for me…
best regards
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news - it is a known issue across several of the newer Elektron devices with the white screens. Unfortunately, the only solution is to get warranty repair done. It is a hardware problem with the display in your unit.
Hi, as Sip mentioned, unfortunately this is a known issue.
Here is a link to the main topic, it is rather deep:
Suffice to say it will require a warranty repair, so the first step is to contact elektron support to document the problem and schedule a repair.
Good luck
The good news - if you are in Europe, the repair process is fast and smooth.
Elektron will take care about it directly, they will arrange pickup and in about 10 days the unit is back with you. Happened to me with Syntakt and brand new Rytm MK II.
thanks…I’m already in contact with the support…
Do we know what batches are affected?
All range or just AH+?
There were some attempts made to narrow down the range of impacted units which proved to be futile since some anomalous build dates and serial numbers of the various elektron models started popping up.
They must have determined that it was more cost effective to do warranty repairs than to initiate a recall or to fix all of the units in their warehouse stock.
Unfortunately, it seems that every device with a white and black OLED is accounted for as having some units being impacted. It was originally believed that DN2 was assembled using a different batch of screens, but it looks like they took their chances on the remaining parts stock and just used what they already had, otherwise there really would be no other explanation for the fact that some DN2 have shown up with the issue as well.
One would hope the newest ones are being built from a different batch of screens, but it does not seem that there is currently any conclusive way to tell if you’re purchasing a unit which may be impacted or not. Only if it’s purchased secondhand and the previous owner states that they already had it replaced by elektron, something like that.
I actually bought a secondhand one from someone and the replacement screen he had done under warranty went out on me…
its been sitting at the US repair center for a month waiting on part
angry face emoji
thanks = I guess E25 are safe? or just everything with black and white oled?
Elektron should communicate the serial number or the MFG date impacted IMO
I have seen an e25 with the issue. They are made contemporary to syntakt which also has displayed the issue. OT mk2 as well, although perhaps not earlier OT mk2?
It seems like if it has the black and white oled, you run the risk.
It’s obviously not going to be all units that are impacted, but enough to cause people concern.
The warranty repair part is fine, but the inconvenience of that is not, at least in my opinion.
thank you!
I am in the market to get an A4 ml2 and this is precious info
I think that screen is a different size, but you’d have to have somebody measure it.
Not positive but the bezel is definitely bigger, and the screen itself may be different so do more research before you write it off because I honestly can’t remember if there’s some examples of lines on the AR and A4, I was speaking out of turn and didn’t specify that I was talking about the digi form factor screens which OT mk2 shares.
As I wrote two posts above … it affects all units with new display. I had lines on brand new Rytm MK II purchased 6/2024 almost 2 years after Syntakt which had the same issue. All brand new.
Well then that clinches it. I was pretty certain that all models were impacted and now that’s been confirmed by an actual user so it’s really a gamble. But though the number of impacted units seems large, compared to the number of units on the market the actual number which have failed is going to be relatively small, however it is inevitable that they are going to stand out more because people who aren’t having problems won’t be starting topics or making posts just to say “my display works fine”.
Than this is the best time for me to grab a second hand unit with yellow display until they sort this issue our
I posted this to another thread on this issue. It’s really bad that Elektron haven’t got a grip of this issue.
“I returned mine to the retailer (they forced me to pay for the return) and they replaced the screen. Less than two weeks later and the new screen broke. I contacted Elektron and they arranged a courier to collect the AH+ for repair. The courier never turned up. I emailed Elektron and said the courier hadn’t arrived and this might have happened because I live at house 20A and sometimes the courier goes to no 20 by mistake. I asked if they could rearrange it and make sure the courier knew to come to the right house. Elektron were totally unhelpful. I demanded a return and refund from the supplier. They collected the unit then didn’t give me a refund for well over a month. I only got them to respond to my emails by threatening to involve the police. So I won’t be buying anymore Electron gear and KMR are no longer on my list of trusted suppliers.”
