Tbh it’s likely that Slice can mostly cover the kinds of things I’m thinking of (assuming the Play parameter affects individual slices allowing you to loop them while modulating the Slice param) - as mentioned I probably just need to do more experimenting!
And Pitch in Repitch ?
I’d seriously want that. Limited as is.
Concerning Werp / Start / Granular, did you try Slice machine ? You can set lfos to Slice Select, and choose Slice as Start…
Aye I’d just thought about that in my most recent reply tbh I should just stop posting until I’ve spent a few more hours with the hardware…
Slice machine have the craziest glitchy granular potential imho.
Honestly I have no real interest in other machines…
I’m sure! My only concern is that LFOing slice position will yield relatively large (e.g. 1/64 bar) jumps in the “grain” start pos rather than smooth ones… I suppose you can achieve rhythmic grains that move smoothly through the sample using retrigs in One Shot/Repitch, however then you can’t use your second LFO to modulate grain size as you can’t point it at the retrig resolution (yes I’m probably just sounding greedy now )
Imho auto Slice zero-crossing doesn’t help for lfo smoothness.
Tip to have smaller grains in a loop : divide it in 4 samples, plock slots.
previously when pressing func + src i could directly browse samples for the selected track. with the new machines it got moved. Does anybody know where to?
In the SRC page, turn encoder D (sample slot) and the list will pop up.
…and then Func+Yes on the highlighted sample to swap it
If you want warping AND sample start point control use the time stretch hack with a one shot machine and modulate LFO start phase
How would you all go about recording and playing a 48 step loop on the Digitakt? The step record increment goes from 32 to 64 and I wasn’t able to figure out a quick and easy work around last night without getting into double triple multiple steps that might not even work like I want it to.
I guess the Bar settings on Werp machine might not have an option for 3 bars either, huh? I’m not next to my Digitakt right now.
Just got a digitakt after a 2 years hiatus!
Any recommendations for good in-depth tutorials for learning all the new features in 1.5?
@DaveMech has a great one.
Thanks, I’ll start with that one!
Record 64 steps and play 48 steps ? 3/4 or 3/2 scale ?
re: wavetables and clicks / thermionic
I absolutely hate clicks.
The key is to turn BRR up and Overdrive to the max, and then use the Filter to shape the (now very bright) sound. All sounds in this jam were created using wavetables and -scanning, embracing what comes out of it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LSkaensvcw8
Can’t wait for my AH to arrive to make even worse things!
Is it possible to load a sample chain with say 8 full 16bar breaks or is there a maximum sample length?
That should be possible. There is 64MB limit, which is about 11mins.
if your loops were 120bpm, then 8 x 16 = 128 bars, 128 x 2s = 256s (approx 4m 15s)
You’d have to load this long sample chain via transfer app, the onboard sampling on Digitakt is limited to 33s per sample.
