Digitakt II Feature Requests

Yes, many of us do. The lack of Solo, while annoying, has not seemed to stop people from making dynamic live music with these instruments.

Please don’t take this the wrong way, but I think what you really need is more practice time with the machine.

Once you build up your muscle memory, you’ll get so fast and agile with those mutes that you won’t even notice there’s no Solo. Especially if you get good at Prepare Mutes like @Tchu suggested. (Prepare Mutes isn’t a feature on the DT1, but I really wish it was! But my point is that even without it, folks with DT1s have made lots of blisteringly fast music that includes soloing).

I’m trying to offer performance-based solutions here, but like much music-making (electronic or otherwise), it’s easier to create a good live performance when you’ve set things up in advance.

If you had read me in full, you would not have needed to write this answer. But thank you!

Vraiment? Really? Echt?

At the risk of sounding ableist (kidding? maybe?), I’ve always kind of assumed that Elektron’s logic for omitting Solo is that most people have 4 fingers on each hand, so your “Solo” is basically just using 7 of your 8 fingers at once.

But then I saw a Liam Killian video where he said something like “the average number of hands among all people on Earth is certainly less than 2.” which is also a good point.

I think elektron’s reasoning is probably

This topic is for offering concise Feature Requests only

Please don’t spoil it for others by offering a verbose meta narrative of the process. It only serves to detract from the genuine contributions

Don’t know too much about software possibilities, but one thing that would be cool would be to be able to replace the Reverb FX with a secondary Delay instead. Identical in structure to the first Delay FX but with its own settings dialed in. And vice versa! : )

Random wish of the moment:

Hold KB Setup key and touching tracks 1-16 would solo.

Currently holding this key and pressing any of the 16 tracks does nothing.

Or, more to the point, an easy to access solo mode to compliment the mute option. Doesn’t have to be that key (and the current functionality turns on the keyboard on a long press upon release, this would need to be changed to only activated by a short press).

Might’ve been asked for before, but I’d love the same Control All for midi tracks, in order to transpose all tracks, would be great to choose which tracks are affected too, like the audio tracks.

Here ia an idea, consolidate grid and slice machine into grid machine, consolidate stretch/werp/repitch into stretch machine.

Don’t know if anyone has suggested this yet but disable the track you want to solo from control all…make sure you aren’t on that track…now use control all to drop the volume any number of ways you can use to drop the volume.

I think this has been requested in the past, however:

headphone output routing options.

As the DTII doesn’t have an additional output to the main, it would be really useful to select which channels are routed to the headphone output in the config.

This would mean that you could send out the headphone jack, through some effects and back into the inputs for live performance, as well as convenient sampling.

I don’t have any pedals currently but I reckon next year I will and would love to use the DTII this way without additional gear.

I’d like to hear Elektrons take on it tbh. I’m going to drop them an email.

Old feature request, but Digitakt 2 needs Live Looping

I would love to see the Note Edit feature from the Digitone II being ported to the midi tracks of the Digitakt II. The existing method sucks and it would also make more sense to standardize between the different Digi boxes.

I’d like MIDI tracks Euclidean sequencer to be part of control all. I use turning on Euclidean with control all like a secondary fill/mute button.

Also, I think the Euclidean page shouldn’t require a shift button press to get to, it’s just as important to me as a main page, and AMP only has one page otherwise. With the remember page option shouldn’t be an issue for those who don’t use it much
