Digitakt II Feature Requests

The DN2’s voice allocation has no relationship to midi channels.

The way it works is that each track has the ability to assign voices “dynamically” using the whole pool of voices, or you can lock a certain number of voices to that track, so that number of voices is always available to that track. So for instance I often use tracks 1-8 as monophonic drum tracks. Each of those has one voice locked to it, so there is no voice stealing from the drums. But you can also do things like lock one track with 8 voices for chords and things like that, or leave the tracks as dynamically allocated voices.

Midi channels are totally separate, you can have as many midi sequencer channels as tracks, each with 8 notes of midi polyphony (On DN2). So you could theoretically sequence 16 different midi instruments with 8 voices each.

Yes, I was not asking whether the voices have relation to midi channels. I meant to ask whether the voice stealing/sharing was dynamic or if you manually assign a fixed set of voices to each track in use.

Amazing to learn that DNII can do it both ways (fantastic! thank you both for explaining this), either dynamic or fixed. It would be great to see the same in DTII. That way, we could have polyphonic sampler tracks, even with a fixed number of voices, and still make use of remaining tracks by putting a MIDI machine on them.

That’s definitely my feature request for DTII

Drag and drop samples to active tracks in the Overbridge plugin. This would be a big welcome one for me.

Would be nice to add an option in the personalize menu to set the default behavior for the velocity curve.

Thinking about Page Conditions earlier.

It would be great to set the conditions for a an entire page.

Perhaps trig conditions would override this - or it could be an option as to which one takes priority.

when live recording is enabled while the trig mode is set to either “slices” or “preset pool,” the page leds no longer correspond to the location of the playhead

this is because they now indicate the bank of presets or slices that are currently selected

i never use more than 16 slices or presets at once while live recording, primarily because navigating between the different banks would be awkward while doing so

it would be nice to have an option in the personalize settings to enable the typical live recording behavior for the page leds

Likely mentioned before but I’ll add my vote to it:
16 tracks leave a lot of room for layering sounds. So please allow us enable tracks to “listen/follow” other tracks sequencing patterns <3

Would be cool if you could quantize incoming midi notes to the selected scales for tracks.
Eg I could send an arp from my OT to my DT and have that quantize the notes to my selected scale.

Bet you feel like a fool! Ive just tested single sample looping with slice mode and its a bit finicky but definitely much much easier at creating synth voices than it was previously. no more clicking!

I don’t really feel like a fool, as the new slice mode doesn’t solve any of the sustain loop issues (i.e. setting loop start and end points will still introduce clicks due to lack of zero crossing snapping). I don’t want to loop an whole sample

But there is zero-crossing snapping for mono, so I guess you must mean for stereo ? Surely zero-crossing detection is never going to be a solution to click-free stereo looping (unless you get lucky and left and right cross zero at the same time ?).

The OT seems to manage it :person_shrugging:

Is there zero crossing snapping for mono now?
If I load a mono sample into the one shot machine, and hold FUNC while adjusting the loop start/end - it will snap to nearest zero crossing?

If you do it in slice machine (not one-shot) you get zero snapping. Set the grid to 3 when you create it, then move the 2 dividers to your start and end points.

There a conversation about it here:

Interesting work around, I’ll check it out

Maybe with micro fade in and out?
Though i get no clicks with Func + Knob start/end.
Maybe only loop end is a bit questionable if it’s a pad.
You can remove click but it does create a micro pause in loop

I was joking. But there is good zero crossing detection now! Tested it out this arvo. Doesn’t work in one shot mode but you can setup your preset to have 1 slice and find your loop points. Unfortunately this doesn’t lead to having a start point different from the loop start point. It’d be great if you could set to 3 slices and to be able to loop on the 2nd slice and fade out on the 3rd slice like a classic sampler.

Don’t worry, even if zero crossing is implemented perfectly, Joyrex will find a new way to hate the new boxes.

With slicing added the one feature I wish for the most would be polyhonic playback of samplesand voice management - 16 voices with stealing.

As it is I always feel compelled to add a synth when using the DT but I’ve come to realize I really enjoy using just one elektron box at a time and nothing else (but an external sequencer and MIDI controllers).

Change Name of Midi Tracks CC Values on FLTR and AMP Page. Val1-2-3… is hard to remember. This would be very helpful in my mind.

thanks a lot byby

Thru machine!
Would be great to be able to use filters and some of the other effects on the inputs
