Personalisation options:
- do not load default samples (grrrr)
- do not populate (polute) the tracks on all patterns and banks with samples 1-16 (grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr)
Personalisation options:
This always pissed me off about the OG DT. But I think you can create a project, empty all the samples from their slots and ram etc, then save that project as the Default. Let me see if I can dig it out from a DT II Tips thread…
But I’m not sure if it also works with no samples ![]()
should work by setting all tracks to off and copy that to all patterns etc. … thanks, i was hoping someone came up with a workaround ![]()
Edit: This is a good example of why we just can’t have everything … if it weren’t that way, tons of potential users would be frustrated (how do i get sound out of this?) instead of delighted (making music right away).
couldnt you just save an empty init project that you can load any time?
well i should read the thread first hehe
not DTII itself, but rather Transfer app feature request — i think it’d be coherent if the app normalized transferred samples as well, since we already have sample conversion + normalizing when recorded via Line IN / USB
Bizarro World ![]()
I think there must be a way to have both. Right now the Create New Project option is useless if we really want a blank project. Why not add a dialog to that menu option instead? Then there is no need for init projects and kits.
The dialog prompt could be something like this?
“Would you like some cheesy default samples loaded into every track in every pattern in every bank in this new project?” YES/NO
Or they could let us overwrite the default INIT factory kit that it presumably uses to populate new projects. Right now you can overwrite it but it has no effect.
Or it could be a toggle under Personalize.
Correcting my original request for scene machines…
What I’d like to see is a SCENE trig mode, as this seems like the easiest way to implement scenes into the DT2. Simple on/off scenes, like on the OT when leaving the crossfader alone.
And just to repeat myself…RAM machines, realtime sample stuff would be great
Tomorrow is going to be firmware update day and overbridge will be available

+1 Especially when the same func-no has to be hit to reset the sampling page…
Pls not!
Or as an option. You get extra aliasing as free gift every time you touch the volume. Not so in the mixing stage, but when you alter the source and save it.
to my understanding, aliasing occurs during sample rate conversion, so technically 44.1 → 48 already introduces aliasing. but i fail to see why exactly extra aliasing would be introduced during gain adjustment
In normalising, not only is the highest value stretched to it’s new location in the bit table, but also everything in between gets moved around and the lowest volume still stayes at it’s value. Therefore every sample point is moved. The degradation is to me not hearable, but it is there and mostly, not needed as you can alter the output volume in the mix.
Maybe just and OCD thing, but I would definitely not want that as a default.
maybe it’s just me but i noticed that topic of audio normalization has some sort of a confusion / opposition on this forum. just to double check, i googled it, some of very first google results:
and would like to settle on this TLDR: normalization is lossless. normalize normalization so to speak
It would be interesting if they could implement some control over how perform button works. Currently, the perform button holds when you change patterns, which could be ideal for some people using the same samples on corresponding tracks. However, I’m working on a set where each pattern will use drastically different sounds and when changing while still in perform mode it brings all the current sounds over to the selected pattern until I clear perform mode. Would like to be able to tell the digitakt not to move the samples with it and use the samples assigned to the tracks in a pattern so I don’t have to leave perform mode just to move patterns.
Another thing that would be cool here is if you could “morph” between patterns or kits similar to how you can on the LXR drum module. This would be a nice performative way to transition into different songs.
I thought the point of perform mode was to act like a kit that follows your pattern changes, rather than the normal DT method of kit per pattern.
Maybe, but I’m not sure the practical idea behind that. If you wanted the same kit on all patterns to stay the same, then you could just set the same kit for all patterns. I think the point of perform mode is so you can quickly jump back to where you were earlier before changing things, sort of like a giant undo button
It’s so that there’s continuity in the kit settings between one pattern and the next. If you’re performing live, adjusting a bunch of parameters on different tracks etc, as soon as you move to the next pattern, those changed parameters are going to suddenly jump to a previously saved state and would likely be jarring. this gives you the option to carry over those adjustments that you make during your performance across multiple patterns.
this would be the temp save method
