I’ve not noticed it, but I’d have to make an experiment to be sure. Like you, I would expect that transfer would not change anything, on the basis that it’s just moving around digital data … but then it changes sample rate and bit depth, so I’m not 100% sure.
EDIT: Everyone responding here seems to think there is NO normalisation on transfer.
