Definitely agree with what some folks have written about modulation destinations for the Euclidian sequencer!
Would also be great to be able have internal modulation destinations for TRIG parameters. Especially NOTE (ideally within the set scale)!
Also, the possibility to decouple the Euclidian sequencer from the track’s sequencer grid.
HOW IT CURRENTLY WORKS – At the moment you can program a number of triggers on your track at different NOTE values and then enable the Euclidian sequencer which would trigger notes with a rhythm determined by the Euclidian sequencer, but at the notes you programmed on the track’s grid. Changes to the Euclidian sequence length are reflected in the PER TRACK MODE for SEQUENCER PAGE SETUP. The patterns are always retriggered in sync.
HOW IT COULD WORK - You could program the Euclidian pattern length and the sequencer PER TRACK settings independently. You could then do things like set the track’s grid at a division of the Euclidian sequence for moving bass lines. Odd divisions of the track’s grid from the Euclidian sequencer would make for melodies or bass lines that move and change, but at predetermined values.
Got one a few days ago, had an OG Digitakt a while back, a few tiny things.
Solo would be nice, especially with this many parts.
Having simple Page+Play to start playback from the current page would be helpful. I know Page Loop exists, but being able to do it with a simple combo would be an improvement since I frequently want to swap between pages in 128 step patterns.
I know we’re probably not getting polyphony but it would still be nice, even if it was just stacking notes with the same parameters rather than having tails ring through etc.
All minor things. I’m really appreciating what was added to the DT2 versus the DT1, makes it a much more usable box for me.
per track fill:
trk + page button = actual track fill
page button = global fill
or it can be set in the settings to either global or per track fill mode
audio through machine (let us pass audio through the filters/amp/effects of a channel, with full access to LFOs and parameter locks)
ability to microtime whole tracks (i was running midi from my digitakt 2 to my analog synth, and the audio from that through my H90 into the external audio input and noticed MIDI + H90 introduced enough latency that it sounded noticeably tighter microtiming all the MIDI 1/384 early… the problem is any notes on the first step wouldn’t send the first time, and it was a pain in the ass to microtime all the triggers. microtiming everything else 1/384 late would solve the first note not sounding problem, but be even more a pain in the ass… wish there was an easy way to do this)
Choke groups (been tapping out beats so that would be really nice)
128 Slices
Extended recording times up to 256 steps for example
Lazy chop mode (this could be a setting in slice mode when you enter the menu it could be “Lazy chop” it will load you in then you can tap the pads to chop your sample and set your slice points up to 64)
Twin shot machine (I see some awesome possibilities with that and sample slot selection for each, maybe with modulation destination sample a and b)
Zoom for one shot machine (like cmon there’s one free space on the encoder begging for it)
Copy and paste of performance mode changes
(This would be amazing, it’s strange because you can currently make changes in performance mode to any of the encoder settings save the changes in temp pattern. You can then exit performance mode back to your normal pattern and then when you enter performance mode again you can recall the changes with func+no. This works across all patterns by the way. Still a nice way to make b sections or alternate patterns)
Long shot but Voice stealing or some kind of allocated track polyphony/machine that’d be fantastic.
Another long shot but a lesser granular machine would be awesome.
This x1000.
I sent a feature request to Elektron about this, and I encourage everyone else to request it too so this would be implemented in the future firmware update.
Lazy chop mode is a big win. Just follow the blueprint laid out by Mpc and sp404. Doesn’t have to be special but I tell you there’s nothing musical or fun about manually dialing each and every slice point
As a new user, I keep being surprised at things the Digitakt 2 can do. “I wonder if it can…ah yes” but the only thing I expected that it can’t do is the zoom on one shot.
There’s a workaround for this: Instead of one shot, use slice and make just one slice. You can zoom in and also trim the start and end point of the sample more precisely.
This part of my feature request is already in there, sorry my bad
1 ) *a SONG LiVE PERFORMANCE RECORD feature?
Meaning: Arming a new empty song, to start recording after pressing play.
Then performing and tweaking meanwhile recording the parameters to the song slot datalines for later recall/editing etc?
e.g. For recording live performances quick ideation/jams/tweakings
(1b) song OVERDUBBiNG
Recording/converting/playing midi sequences/songs from external devices/DAWs (or just the selected TRK instrument through eg a midikeyboard)
on the fly over a chosen TRK slot? By pressing REC on a SONG (very nice for e.g. converting/loading/porting projects over into the DT2)
Also i would like
( 2 ) a REVERSE SONG DUMP to eg a new project?
EXPORT Song back and split up to new/current PROJ?
After having recorded a song into a slot, being able to export those song datalines/sequence parts and recorded automation/parameter twaeaking back into PTN sequences in sequence (leaving out the step that where muted for instance)
( 4 ) INSTANT SWiTCH pattern sequences while the trackhead keeps running (like e.g. Ableton Live/Polyend Tracker)
This would be nice for recording those switchups to a song, for ideation and crazy effects/breaks/powerfills etc
Also, final silly request for now i’d like to see the SLiCES have a feature similar to the MPC Sample, meaning
( 5 ) Set SLiCE markers on Live Playback
To place markers in sequence to correspond with the next TrigStep by playing back a loop and hitting e.g. YES. Which will then set a marker at that point for later microediting (max 16 setting markers equalling the 16 TrigSteps)
That’s it for me again.
Thanks also for taking some time to port over and provide the forgotten DigiTakt II sibling with a new bombshell and makeover to make it’s whippersnappers chop some fresh onions and compete with the other fish on the market (FX Sauce and routing options similar to the newest puppy TonVerk? would be lovely, and not so much of a stretch i reckon, being of the same architecture to a degree) Or lets say: give the DT2 a little tease TV makeover: in addition to select either SAMPLE of MiDI to a track/channel, have the option to add 1 slot of the TV machine? (like you added a sample mode to the Syntakt recently)
