Digitakt II 1.01A : Bug reports

Aw damn, but as far as that goes hopefully they can do a quicker swap.

A very small bug, but small bugs are bugs too:

  • Go to the Samples menu [FUNC] + [SAMPLES]
  • Choose + DRIVE or PROJECT RAM (doesn’t matter)
  • Press ARROW RIGHT and make sure AUTO-PREVIEW is enabled

Now browse through the list with samples:
Press [FUNC] + ARROW DOWN, and hold [FUNC]: You should skip 7 samples ( you go to sample 7 in the list). Press ARROW DOWN again, it should go to sample 14.

But it doesn’t, it will only increment by one, so to sample 8 in the list. Release [FUNC] and pressing [FUNC] + ARROW DOWN again will skip 7 samples again.

It works as expected (without releasing the [FUNC] button) when AUTO-PREVIEW is disabled.

If someone could confirm I will submit it as a bug.

I changed the screen protection at home for my Syntakt, it was very easy to replace, I’m wondering if it is easy to change the whole screen at home too, if there’s no soldering I’d just order a new screen from Elektron and install it at home.

it’s not. It’s actually PITA to change the whole screen, unfortunately

Got about 10gb deep into sample uploading to +Drive and had transfer quit on me (as it had a thousand times before). Did what I had been doing, delete the incomplete folder in DT2 and was going to reupload in smaller chunks, but suddenly the unit freezes and starts deleting files at a glacial pace- like 10 minutes for a drum one shot. Thought maybe it was Transfer so I did a hard restart on the DT2 and tried to delete from within the machine, but same thing. Freezes up when you try to delete stuff when there’s a lot of stuff on the +Drive

I’m having something strange happen randomly. I have my DT2 hooked up to my Virus TI desktop synth. I noticed that sometimes some of the tracks are not triggering the synths from the Virus until i go to that part on the virus and actually switch the patch to another one and then go back. If i press stop and play again after doing so the sound stops again and I have to repeat the process to get the sound coming out from that track.

That’s unfortunate.
Be patient, it’s been working on.

is there a changelog for the beta? i might be interested to participate (depending on the changes)

There’s no changelog as such for the betas that I’ve seen. But transfer issues have been specifically mentioned in the covering messages I have received (can’t speak for messages to others obviously) which probably reflects the reasons I gave for wanting to join the beta.

I have a problem sampling the main L/R including send fx. When I sample a synth via the ext in with all other tracks muted except one midi track, I noticed today that I get a dry signal very often.

So reverb and delay cranked up on the ext mixer page, but often only a dry signal gets recorded from the main out. Weirdly enough, this does not count for the chorus. That’s working fine when I don’t hear reverb and delay.

Problem seems to occur after I double tap stop to kill all sounds. After hittig play again, the signal suddenly is dry.

Only remedy is to restart the DT, then reverb and delay are back. Edit: reverb and delay also come back again if I unmute one or more audio tracks that have trigs on them.

I am on 1.01 BETA-A1

I wrote to Elektron and they said they are aware of it.

This is normal behavior for all digi size boxes. Because the delay can get into an out of control feedback loop with certain settings, potentially damaging your equipment, double pressing stop kills the delay and the reverb. There needs to be some kind of signal telling the delay and reverb to start back up. I can’t remember exactly but I think there just needs to be a trig on an audio track.

Thx, sounds logical. Gonna try that first thing tomorrow, putting a trig on step one of an empty audio track.

Is it a bug that the Sample Slot option disappears from the LFO destinations when using any machines other than one shot? If not, that’s disappointing. If so, I’ll put a report in.

It’s already known, hopefully will be fixed soon

LFO :arrow_right: Sample Start seems to only work in Forward Modes. I don’t know if it is different to the DT, a new or old bug, or a bug at all. I fiddled now a while around with that, and it seems like instead of Sample Start, Sample End is modulated … but also not vice versa …

Have you tried on long samples?
I’ll give it a try this afternoon.

Anyone noticed annoying pops when using single cycle waveform. If I use a Sine wave for example to produce sub bass its impossible to avoid this pops that are louder than the wave itself, even if I set a slower attack and also experimenting with envelope reset no chance to avoid them.

only  the second problem here is that i don’t get it to loop correctly (playing through the whole sample - not just a portion-, for which loop has to be set to 0.02 - it’s my favourite and excessively used technique for everything)

Yeah, I have the same. I think because trigs start the sample from the beginning, unless the bass frequency is aligned with the tempo, you’ll have unavoidable hard jumps. Having an option to make the sample play head loop independently of trigs would be very helpful.
