Digitakt II 1.01A : Bug reports

Same here, volume drops issue

For everyone having issues with midi learn, I think the culprit is most likely a bug, and a very weird one…
So, I managed to make it work with DT2 + ST, just changing a couple of things from stock settings:

SYNTAKT

  • Under settings / midi config / port config, set encoder dest to INT + EXT.
  • Under settings / midi config / channels take note of the AUTO CHANNEL number.

DIGITAKT 2

  • Under settings / midi config / channels, make sure at least one track or AUTO CHANNEL is set up to the same channel as AUTO CHANNEL on Syntakt.

Hope this helps whoever is struggling with it!

EDITED again - found out the real culprit lol

Im down to the wire on my 30-day return period. Would love to know if the beta DOES FIX the double event on button presses. Im not going to keep a device that does not work properly for me unless I know the update fixes this issue. Tired of beta-testing new gear, this is what Quality Control is for.

Yep, it does. This is one of the items that wasn’t found during initial beta-testing, but as soon as we became aware of it and could reproduce it ourselves we included it in the updated firmware. So no hardware issue.

Yes, I have 15 gigs on mine at the moment. I think the trick is that after 8 slow down. Load samples only a couple folders at a time. My guess is that there is a memory leak in the transfer app that is causing the crashes as well as the corruption issue, now why that starts to kick in around the 8-10 gb, not sure and beyond my understanding of how the two work together.

You ? :content:
Midi channels have to correspond, thats logical.

Thank you so much for the response. I will wait patiently for the firmware update.

it just seems weird to me that the connection is dictated by the auto channel on st, since if I understood correctly, autochannel is for receiving, not sending.
But again i dunno much about midi, I’m just happy it works :))

I see what you mean, coming from Octatrack, Auto Channel was for receive only. I was surprised at first with default Auto Channel setting as channel sent by knobs with Analog Four MKI (origins of the Midi Config menu you can find on Elektrons).
Worth to learn about it to understand unexpected behaviors!

Not that bad, midi learning!

I have issues with audio being completely silent for like half a bar the first time I start up and hit play on a pattern. Seems the digi takes like 2 minutes to actually finish loading upon start up so your patterns may kick in halfway through if you don’t give it a sec. Similarly I’ve had samples in banks not show up until a few minutes in, if they’re at the back like bank G/H I think they’re the last to load

When you first load a project, the top left of the screen shows rotating arrows while the project is loading. You can press start at this time even when loading is incomplete.

Is that the time you’re getting missing audio?

Yeah absolutely during project load, but it seems to me that the speed this happens (even with stereo samples considered) is much slower than the DT1, on the DT1 I never had a pattern not play audio for any amount of time ever, even a chockablock session.
And there are adjacent inconsistencies with sample loading/sorting/saving/not loading from DT1 projects which all seem like knock ons from Elektron reworking structure

The samples are loaded from the +Drive to memory during project load. The sequencer will start immediately but only loaded samples will be heard. With that said, the selected pattern is loaded first, so should be reasonably quick to get sound. But it also means that if the user during this time quickly changes pattern it can be new ”silent period”. When the rotating icon has stopped, everything is loaded.

Longer samples naturally take longer time, and with the larger capacity of the Digitakt II, it is quite easy to create a big project.

It has been said before, that importing a Digitakt I project might not sound identical, but should be very close. If not, it is a bug and we would like to get the project so we can solve it.

it‘s so megacool, that you support loading dt1 projects into dt2!

since the dt2 is much more than a mkii version, i appreciate the support alot!

Firmware 1.01a

Previewing Samples in Preset Pool (FUNC + Level/Data)

When using the Track key to preview samples from Preset Pool these samples fail regularly:

CHORD CYMBAL
RIPPED FLUTE
TANZ HAT 1
LIB DOOR
SPARKLESS

These samples do work correctly after selecting with YES.

I don’t know is it a bug or not, but…Elektron, guys, please make possible to upload through Transfer more than 60mb samples to drive . I want to use 300 mb samples in my projects, and Project RAM is 400mb, so why limit creativity?

Sometimes I power on my digitakt and hit play immediately on whatever pattern I was previously on. As the samples load in, I get a new arrangement. Not a good arrangement, mind you, but a new one.

Well I just got the screen lines and am kind of crushed that it may have to be sent in for warranty. Can anyone in the Beta-know reveal if this is something Elektron have identified in an upcoming firmware fix or is physical repair the only way for this issue?
