DELIA - Keyboard Synth from Melbourne Instruments

The difference in cost may be due, in part, to Delia having Digital Oscillators and only 6 Voices.

And only two parts. But these are really clever cuts that don’t take away fundamental things imo in order to make it more affordable.

In addition, I think they mentioned they changed the knobs so that they only cost around half of those on Nina without losing anything.

Oh, they also added some stuff like the multi mode filter.

It looks like a surprisingly nice interface for a wave table synth. I wish that was a little more front and center but I get it - most people reach for basic waves first anyway.

I’d like to get my hands on one, even if I am currently a bit overloaded on ladder and ladder-ish filters.

I haven’t done a manual deep dive yet, but if it can modulate mod routings it would be tremendously powerful.

I think…if had the bucks…I’d get one. Sounds super good.

I live in Melbourne yet cannot afford one (yet). SAD!

I would really love to see a controller from them. Patch recall for my hybrid combo of hardware and software synths is the holy grail. Looking at the manual there’s not really much mention of using Delia as a Midi controller.

I wanted to add :

The connectivity of the Delia & the NINA is often overlooked but it has everything. I don’t know any Synth that offers this kind of connectivity.

NINA

Gorgeous.

Ouf, if the empty spaces can accomodate Digi boxes, I’m tempted to switch to the Delia.

How is the keybed quality on Delia?

Does anyone know which keybed is in there (e.g. TP/9s)?

Beautiful in white too.

There is a test / review article in Amazona.

Is anyone else here having issues with the Delia? My first two units were both defective, and I’m now waiting for my third replacement. The first unit started developing crackling noise in the signal path a few days after arrival, and the second unit came with a misaligned screen, causing one of the menu buttons to get stuck and become non-functional.

I’m look for a polysynth and really tempted by the Delia.

How is everyone finding it?

Was hoping it would be a successor to the Prophet 12 but felt a bit underwhelmed by it in the store. I may be in the minority, but I was not a fan of the plastic knobs. The oscilliscope was nice and I like that it was 4 octaves.

Yeah it seems like a few people have found the sound a bit underwhelming?

Definitely going to check one out as soon as possible.

The mod matrix with motorised knobs looks so well implemented and like a lot of fun.

Here’s a slightly different take with focus on Ambient, Electronica and some Dub / Melodic Techno. Maybe you find it useful:
