DELIA - Keyboard Synth from Melbourne Instruments

Schneidersladen has a Delia for 2.300€ right now (down from 2.640€):

Great deal for what I’m sure is a fantastic synth!

Melbourne Instruments will be at Machina Bristronica ( thread ) in a little over a week.

I don’t like that the price has been slashed like this. I surely would be upset if I bought it at full price. This type of price drop, which I don’t like in the VST world, lowers my confidence in the value of hardware.

I think it’s just a temporary discount. I will never understand why we can’t just be happy if other musicians can get a great instrument cheaper if they waited long enough.

Seems likely to me that it’s just being blown out because no one really bought them, it’s too severe a price slash to just be the new regular price.

I’m afraid that’s the case.

Yeah hopefully just blowing them out building word of mouth and continuing on. I do kind of wonder if motorized knobs while a huge talking point isn’t why the majority of people would buy an expensive synth and in a way pulls focus away from the sound of them.

Smells like a fire sale disguised as a seasonal…RIP my wishes for a few firmware bug fixes LOL.

I don’t own one of these, but personally the interface is very high up on the list of reasons to buy a HW synth for me. And this is certainly a unique one.

I think I’d need to demo one of these to fully appreciate what it brings to the table, but I could see market for this for sure. And at this price I’d be a lot more willing to demo it and see if I’m excited or not.

When Delia was announced, I thought it might kill Nina, because it’s much cheaper and offers more (in some ways). However, it seems a bit like they’re focusing on Nina and Roto Control. Those who are interested in the tech seem to be willing to spend more on Nina and get the full package with analog oscillators, 12 voices and four part multitimbralilty. I really wish they succeed as a company because I think their tech is the future and the prices are pretty okay if you compare them to things like the high end Sequential or Moog poly synths.

It’s why I was originally interested, but the sound left me cold so even at this price I’ll pass.

Just got word (from where I would have pre-ordered one from) that they are now discontinued. Which seems weird since they also just released a firmware update with the macro oscillator, and that’s what pushed me over the edge to order one (plus the sale price, obviously).
