Amazing thread already. Popcorn worthy. I always got flagged the few times I hinted that someone was a clown or a troll. But, hey, watch this one get flagged for being off-topic
This is still a matter of perspective though. All gear can be useful in the right context and he doesnât really review anything that would be considered truly awful. Thatâs more the Bad Gear channel territory, and even he comes around on some products that are considered trash. Magpie can be pretty harsh on gear as well if thatâs more your speed.
More like a physical proof he exists. Itâs weird that anyone would get offended by this.
Yes, if youâre highly skilled, knowledgeable and have a terrific work ethic. I wish there were more reviewers like him. I donât mind that he doesnât show his face since itâs not important. His voice is super corny, imo, but I love the channel regardless lol.
Iâm not offended by it (indeed, who would care if I was?) although I would agree that I donât see how itâs relevant.
Of course itâs irrelevant. Most stuff in this thread is irrelevant. In fact, most things in life are irrelevant. Weâre just bags of animated meat and bones after all. But you know, itâs fun, itâs sometimes called humour.
but then companies wonât send you stuff for free to review. It seems a bunch of âtoobersâ found this out quick and changed theirs tunes. itâs a bs fest for product. a lot of âknobâ polishing.
cant watch/listen to any of them anymore, ceptâ for Loopop and Tinez AND Nick
edit: fix for accidentally forgetting Nick
I think itâs incredibly rare for a piece of gear to be absolute junk these days usually itâs just that it doesnât have some specific feature that you might want and if you donât need it then who cares.
Bad Gear is a perfect example. With very rare examples he usually manages to make something half decent out of whatever is put his way even if internet wisdom is that itâs unusable.
Most of the products reviewed by prominent YouTubers are in the hands of them weeks early and any feedback which might result in a bad review has probably been taken into account.
If I try and think of things that have come out recently that have really been total failures then I canât think of much other than the UNO drum machine with was so glitchy as to be unusable and going back a bit further some of the transitional Akai boxes which were supposedly fairly terrible.
I think Loopop covers this well. He will say âSome people will want this product to do X, if thatâs important to you then this isnât for youâ which is all there is to it really.
A synth might have a really limited 8 step arpeggiator, but if you wonât use it then it doesnât matter.
So the punchline is someoneâs complexion, physique, nationality and accent?
Is he like Batman?
Back on topic. I think @stimming and @Tarekith are both pretty good for pointing out problems if anyone wants to get the dirt on a gearâs failings. But Loopop, for me, is great for getting an in-depth overview of a new bit of gear, and heâs gone quite deep with patching ideas for things like the 0-Coast and Moog semi-modulars, for example.
Iâm Batman
I been thinking for decades to start a Youtube channel. At least these guys actually do it.
That boat has sailed. Try the new Facebook virtual reality thingyđ
Nah Iâm just way too cool for anyone to look at anyway. Itâs for the best I guess.
The only time Loopop has toys on his desk is when he reviews Teenage Engineering stuff. đ«ąđ«Łđ€Ș
Yeah, the line between serving up a debate and posing bad-faith arguments is thinâŠparticularly in the digital realm.
Would like if we could remember that quite a few of the personalities often brought-up do frequent this forum also. They should feel as welcome as any other user.
âBut, doctor,â he sobbed, âI am Loopop!â
