I’d like a massage!
Side note: a micro touch of good news over here. Our landlord decided not to sell.
No more intrusions from the fucking realtors, and no need to go out apartment hunting in this shit.
A weight has been lifted
That was a huge source of stress…groups of people coming in to view. Fuuuuuuuu
It is not just the name but how that is being used, in Trump´s mouth it is racist and the way those far right US bloggers are using it is just nazi propaganda. And it is the asian community who is suffering that racism; I was shopping yesterday and the cashier told me the day before there was a chinese ( maybe he was not even from china) shopping and the paying cue started 5m away from him, that is racism.
The first outbreak was in Wuhan, was it originated there though? Well, probably but even if it did so what? It is a virus, no an illegal immigrant; as far as I know viruses do not have a nationality. Well, apparently spanish flu ( which originated in the US) also did; for those who like to give viruses a nationality the US flu would be more accurate, but it is always better blaming others…

PLAGUE UPDATE.
The wife was pretty ill last night. A lot of coughing, sore throat and a short-lived but quite intense fever. I was a little worried about her overnight but she’s woken up a lot better. She’s still got a cough but otherwise seems fine.
Myself and the kid are fine, though I have very very mild asthma symptoms (I have asthma, but have been symptom free for a year).
We’ve managed to piggyback a friend’s internet shopping for a few essentials and they’re going to drop it off on our doorstep on Friday. This means we can quarantine completely without running out of food or having to go out to get milk for the boy.
I’ve also signed up to volunteer once our quarantine is over (thanks for the link @Chinchilla).
Use leave? That blows.
My work (Big Bank) have been surprisingly understanding. Been able to change hours to work around kids. We’ve been told we can cancel leave (what’s the point in a holiday just now) and roll over more days than usually allowed into 2021. Even work has, for now at least, hit normal levels. All adding up to me actually enjoying this wfh caper!
I’m sure it’ll change soon enough as they get a handle of managing teams at a distance and the long, shitty hours and pressure shall return. Thankful I’ve for a a job still though.
Hang in there fella - if there happens to be anything we can help with, just shout
Thanks for thinking of us. I think we’ve been pretty lucky so far. If it is the virus (which seems the most reasonable explanation of our symptoms) it hasn’t hit us that hard and, barring a pretty massive relapse, we all seem to be getting better. It could certainly have been a hell of a lot worse.
Looking for trustworthy news sources in US I came up with this list; I did not know about these occupy democrats…poor guys, fare worse than Breitbart and Trump…
Which ones would you say are worth checking?
Nice to see
Good man Pep
The United States has been close to South Korea, currently the gold standard for dealing with the virus after , with a mortality rate as far as diagnosed cases, around 1.4 percent as of this writing with South Korea at 1.3 percent. The rate is likely even lower and may be below 1 percent as the experts have postulated because there are likely more cases which are undiagnosed since for most people the virus is mild. Many might not even know they have it or ever get tested. The U.S. is actually ahead of South Korea when it comes to total cases per million population, with 2 deaths per million. Iran is much worse, with 295 cases per million and 23 deaths per million.
my post was literal - thats the alert message given when trying to click the link. To view, you had to verify email (no thanks). Relax.
You really need a chart starting on the x axis at x number of positive test deaths per million population (or similar) otherwise could be you’re comparing countries at completely different stages of contagion.
This isn’t ideal either but I guess it’s quite a bit of a problem plotting exponential growth from different countries at different stages with different population size and density/culture.
If you take Japan into account and how they are not reporting or testing for corona cases (even if patience have the symptoms). You can see there that death by pneumonia has increased ALOT the last weeks. Going from 30 deaths to over 1000 in a cpl of weeks. So I wonder if the same amount of reporting is being done on America in order to prop up the stock market…
Edit: maybe a bit cynical, it could be that doctors can’t confirm the cause of death to be from COVID-19.
So maybe to get a more accurate picture we have to cross reference death by pneumonia 2019 to 2020 to get a clearar view of the dEATh tole of Covid-19
This sort of graphic is useless since the time lines aren’t comparable, nor are different countries’ stats comparable in this way because of the immence difference in how strict there’s being tested.
