I have everything setup with the Model Samples where I SHOULD be able to control my TR-8 with MIDI out but alas it does not. If I set to THRU I can control the Roland machine with my other sequencers, unfortunately no matter what octave I try I can not get the M:S to control my TR-8 via any note.
Has anyone had this same issue and can relate their fix?

There are quite a few settings that need to be right to get midi notes going to an external synth. This appears to be a comprehensive checklist:
Edited for better link:
This bit, about the samples and cycles, should be in an FAQ somewhere. I always manage to forget one of those settings and spend ages hunting for it. Thank you @PeterHanes
On the M:S, as well as the settings you listed, you need to make the following setting in the M:S’s CONFIG > MIDI > PORTS menu:
set OUT TO to “MID” (or “M+U”)
set OUT/THRU to “OUT”
and ensure that Track 6 is not muted.
there is a very small chance that your MIDI adaptors are not what they seem and are messing up the pola…

I think the Tracks you are using also have to be activated to send MIDI by selecting FUNC + TRACK and then making sure MOut is checked off.

Yes … @PeterHanes summary above did include that, but without the Func/explanation … thanks.
Ah, I should have checked the link. Thanks.
