Pause. Respectfully, nobody is meat’n my Hitman without catching a bullet in the face. Murder is kind of his whole thing.lol Jokes aside, I too think the origin story was a brilliant idea. 007 may be my first digital preorder. Been waiting on this since GoldenEye for Nintendo. I can’t believe it’s been 30 years.

This was very accurate. I’ll throw in the two most recent Star Wars games. Alot more sophisticated and cinematic.

Got it downloading currently. Kinda saw enough from the previews that it was going to be good, and now the review reception is really quite high.

I’m not heaps a ā€˜Bond’ fan or anything but the game itself looks great, visuals, mechanics, story. Really enjoyed Phantom Liberty earlier this year, so looking forward to another set piece spy thriller.

Only a few of these cool fits left at alienwarearena.com. It’s one of the easier free fit rewards to get in 007 which is another 9/10 single player game for 2026 imo.

Curious. Assuming you’re a few hours into the game by now, has it impacted how you feel about the Bond franchise overall?

I am a big Bond fan and First Light is enjoyable (I am about 4 hours in). It does have a very nice Bond vibe for some missions whilst some others it feels more on the Unchartered side. Negatives - I think it lacks the Bond theme in places but maybe that’s intentional due to the story timeline!! I do find sometimes its a bit more story / cut scene based then actual gameplay but its early days so these views might change!

Well, the game is a riot. Heaps of fun.

By not being a fan of Bond, i just mean, in the scheme of things, it’s not the reason I’m playing the game.

What I saw in the previews of First Light there was a level of quality that basically says ā€˜blockbuster game’, and so far, it is.

I understood that. What I’m asking is if the game is compelling you to the overall movie franchise?

The reception is almost universally great but im wondering if it compels non fans into the franchise. If so, it’s likely more will be invested in the game than what is already planned. It’s already known that IOI will drop future dlc similar to Hitman Franchise.

However, if the movie rights owners see a big uptick in movie streams I’m sure they’ll prioritize more/deeper partnership with IOI or other publishers.

Fair. I think this was very intentional and essential to differentiating FL from Hitman while being consistent with Bond’s theme of being a cinematic spy-fantasy.

Huge and fantastic set pieces, over the top stunts that couldn’t possibly happen irl, beautiful characters with romantic tension, etc.

Hitman was a game first, movie second so a lot less cinematic and more gameplay focused.

For me, no, not really. I’ve seen some of the movies. But it’s not like I’m rushing out to buy box sets or hunt down the novels because of this game.

I’m in it for the computer graphics and interactive art form that gaming is. This game could be called something else and not have James Bond tropes in it, and if it’s a high level of quality, I’ll play it.

The ridiculousness of James Bond stunts do give me a chuckle though, as do the killer set pieces in the game. The gadget side of it is all very cool, too.

On PS5 Wuchang Fallen Feather is one of the free games currently. Its a very traditional soulslike with shortcut pathes to unlock, bonfires cryptic quests, quest givers behind doors.

The combat system is ace, blocking /dodging gives you extra retailiate and fuels spells. Each weapon has its own skilltree, and each can get OP, its well balanced overall.

Enemys are diverse, and there are also very tough bosses early on, but very doable if you have expierience in soulslikes.

So far i am impressed, if i had knewn this game was so cool i would have bought it day 1.

Arcade Paradise (steam) or The Coin Game (steam and console) are fun time wasters for me! I also like getting on Session skate sim, GTA games and Elder Scrolls stuff. Also brotato and castle crashers are good time wasters as well!

Anybody playing 007 on Steam Deck Oled? Is it playable?

The Alters. Excellent concept. Works via Crossover on Mac. Recently nominated for a bunch of Baftas.

Luna Abyss is really fun and has a cool Blade Runner Alien Sci Fi vibe

Same. I’ve been happily taking my time but as I start the Time to Die chapter, it’s obvious I’m nearing the end.

Fortunately, new DLC including NG+ and new story mission with Bowma is on the way and will drop sometime this year. So, that pretty much confirms First Light will get the Hitman WOA treatment to keep it fresh for years to come.

I didn’t have much expectations before getting into game, but after intial ā€œi am enjoying every secondā€ my excitement dropped. I finished it and that was it. I did have some fun but It was just too linear for my liking, and story was okeish at best(don’t wanna mention training levels and story after it)(and character background story and development).
Wished we actually got multiple route options for levels, and better stealth, it was kinda disappointing if you don’t do exactly as it was meant to be played.
Gadgets were also not so fun once you figure out 2 that work best(not to mention you have detergent bottles and exploding barrels on every level even if it doesn’t belong there), gun was always with 8 bullets, especially after getting silencer i thought ā€œok here we goā€ but nothing. You always end up without bullets and need someone else’s weapon if you wanna play this way. Fight also nothing like Batman arkham asylum what was compared with.
Cars also not good, and we actually didn’t have a proper chance to drive a Bond car.
I think they wanted to put all about Bond in one game but they were way over their head in terms of execution.

I’ll blur this part if some find anything to be a spoiler, though i tryed not to spoil anything.

Yeah I’m really enjoying 007! They absolutely nailed the feeling, it’s like playing through a bond movie in a good way. I’m only on the gala, absolutely no idea where the story is going to go and enjoying the roller coaster ride.

Fair criticism although I think IOI also did a good job informing that it would be a lot more linear a la Uncharted, vs spy-sandbox gameplay already available in WOA.

Summary

**driving definitely sucks but not surprised they didn’t spend much time on developing this considering you don’t do it much. Driving is mostly there for cinematic vs gameplay effect.

I actually really enjoyed the combat. Super simple but complex enough to reward creativity. Batman was trained by ninjas in a mystical temple in the clouds and pretty much rivals DC/Marvel mutants in combat; Bond is really just a guy who finds himself almost always getting killed a few times in combat per movie. I think the game captured this well.

I’m with ya. The few minor criticisms I have are already on IOI roadmap and will be addressed. The acting, tension and action is phenomenal.

Summary

The game definitely doesn’t reward camping or stealth, much like Bond movies. Bond doesn’t do a lot of hiding. He has always been a charming yet aggressive and unpredictable man with no respect for compliance. Also, never the Rambo type that hords ammo or guns. In most of the movies he carries a single 6 round .38 caliber Walther PPK with no extra clip.

Once I realized that throwing my gun was more effective than a bullet (lol) I realized that IOI wants you to be aggressive and ā€œdo the unexptectedā€; like Bond would in movies. Once you embrace this, the game is even more fun imo.

Looking forward to when they build out Tacsim more to allow us to use custom guns, disguises, etc and multiple missions and strategies (already announced) I’ll be back for more.
