Closed: Small Form Outboard Mix Compressor

Does anyone use one specifically for master mix bus on their mixer? I am looking for a portable “glue” compressor for live gigs to help keep my live PA and DJ set to be less noticeable in the mix. Preferable $1000-2000. I am not interested in drum bus…surgical…parallel…or racks. This needs to be attached to my DJ mixer for shows. Transparent and clean stereo compression. For example my RME UFX has a great compressor for this but the form factor is a pain. So great for studio but not sure good for a live show.

Thoughts?

Following this. I’m also looking for a comp for my live setup, even in the same price range. Would be nice to add some saturation and compression to the Setup.

If you like RMEs comp maybe a smaller model with the same is an idea?

Thanks for the tip. Checking now.

Bugbrand Stereo compress

Unfortunately no because that means no front panel access and need to either set it up advance or use more gear (ipad) to manage. Not so great. Thought about it though yesterday.

Thanks! I noticed this brand coming up a lot in my search. Apparently a Swiss army knife that rivals higher end and fills a niche. I am reading more into it and the prices are dirt cheap with all things considered.

Indeed. At this price it s easy to give it a go.

That does look like an interesting little guy, I like the desktop format as well.

EHX plattform is a stereo compressor in pedal form. Goes at roughly $150

Another vote to start and try the RNC or RNLA first! Good chance they’re more then perfect for your need and just such a good price. Often found 2nd hand online too.

RNC doesn’t have balanced in/outputs. I think RNLA has. In case it’s of importance to you.

EHX Platform is digital (nothing against that in principle), but it has a high freq cut-off at 16kHz or so. You might wanna be aware of that when putting the main bus through it.

Looks nice. Low and high filters, very handy. Anyone using this here?

I’m not sure if the Keeley Compressor Pro is stereo, but it is a VCA comp in a box that’s able to handle line level signal. Might be worth investigating

Been eyeing this one for awhile https://suonobuono.net/nabcp/

Anyone familiar with this company ?
