Just updated to the latest beta from yesterday. Haven’t had chance to use my Cirklon in a long time. Might get more chance now.
How so? I’m not on the beta (yet), so my bad if I missed it.
As Track Value in ck pattern → quant%. As option to insert as a track ctrl on the Track Value page. In the regular/non beta, latest os version since years
Any of you who use Digitone with Cirklon ever use the FX nstrument definition?
Any tips on actually how this works?
You mean you use 2 instrument definitions, one for the synth channels, and one for the FX channel?
Haven’t used that for Digitone, but for Digitakt. The idea is the same:
- you have one instrument that gives you CC for voice parameters that you use on the DT audio tracks
- you have another instrument that gives you CC for Delay, Reverb, Chorus and mixer (see p. 97/98 in the manual for what is available) - you won’t need any notes on that track, just CC.
To use the FX instrument, you have to set a MIDI channel in the settings for FX CHANNEL (p. 73 in the manual)
That’s it.
**edit
After my forum complaints, I received a reply and they said they’ll replace the entire board. I’ve edited my previous comment because, even if I’m not entirely happy with the customer support, I don’t like being the kind of person who tears down small companies just because they may not be perfectly organized.
That said, considering the price of the sequencer, I do think the support side could be improved. Still, in this day and age, I’d rather support small independent companies and tolerate a few inconveniences as long as the problems eventually get resolved.
New touch screen keyboard in the latest beta OS, which works great! The latest beta seems very smooth and stable (so far anyway).
Is there any hints of major new features on the horizon?
Sequencer market has sure hottened up in recent years with Oxi / Hapax being feature packed
Ive not owned a Cirklon for a few years now so not sure if OS development has ramped up now physical supply has caught up
Have you checked the release notes at the Sequentix forum?
I had trouble logging on there for some reason - my browser saying not secure.
Release notes are here
Main things in 1.4 I’ve noticed so far:
- display handling migrated from emulation layer for ck1 LCD to native ck2 ChromART
accelerator. all new functions writing to dual frame buffers, switched after v-sync- user-definable colour scheme in MENU, more>, UI scheme menu
- USB host hub functionality will vary depending on devices. USB hosted MIDI interfaces can add up to 32 ports in total
- aux chords
- added touch text entry
- added track value row label entry, selection for CV envelope combi
Now that the display is getting V2-only updates, I guess the most requested remaining features are LFO and more auxes but not clear if/how these will show up in 1.4. I guess more generative stuff is on the way too.
Other than more auxes, the biggest thing for me would be better/more control over NRPN, as more and more of my setup needs it, or at least the ability to use them in track values like 7 bit CCs. When I met Colin at Superbooth he said he’s working on it so fingers crossed.
Too bad all I want is for pre-send program change to work when changing songs
really tired of stuffing an entire live set into one song. And really this is an Elektron problem. They have direct jump, so there’s no technical reason I can think of to not allow immediate program changes; all the sounds are in RAM!
Have you requested this/reported to Colin this behaviour? I could see it more likely that he’ll be able to remedy this over Elektron fixing it.
I have. Initially he responded with surprise, admitting it was simply overlooked, which gave me hope. That was years ago. I’ve inquired/reminded with no reply since. Not sure if I should keep asking him about it or continue to wish upon a star. I’m surprised more people haven’t brought it up considering how commonly Elektron/Cirklons are paired together, and the feature was literally added to support Elektron users from what I gathered in CK forum history (I made sure I knew what I was buying, so this omission is particularly irksome).
Have any of you slightly detached the battery bay when replacing the battery?
I may have; either that, or my replacement battery is a dud. ![]()
Think I saw someone on the Facebook talking about this happening to them. Think some revisions are more prone to this risk than others. Sorry to hear
Have you verified the orientation of the battery is correct?
FWIW, I changed my battery two weeks ago, week, and I found that it was really uncomfortable fumbling around inside the box like Colin does in the video, so I detached the I/O board and removed the controller board with the CPU board from the case. It’s just 6 screws more, and it makes things so much simpler.
If you want to check whether or not you messed something up, I suggest you do exactly that: remove the board from the case, and take a closer look at the battery bay. It is easy to detach the CPU board from the “keyboard” part, in case you want to check if here is any damage to the contacts.
If there is, take photos and send them to Colin. If you’re lucky you might be able to touch it up with a soldering iron.
You might already know this, but some button batteries have a clear safety sticker on them, that need to be removed before using.
I replaced the OG battery that came with it when I bought it two years ago. So I may have already removed the sticker you’re referring to.
But the folk at Sequentix will send me a mail slip to drop it off.
I’m certain the bay is dislodged.
And I don’t want to risk damaging the unit over what would otherwise cost a lot less for them to take a look at it.
Is it weird I already miss the thing? ![]()
