Looping can be automated with MIDI

Shame how expensive this is for Europeans - $550

Otherwise a nice looking set of FX in a clever little box.

Reminds me somewhat of the Bygones by 3degreesaudio

They don’t make it very clear in the manual about loop overdubbing. If reading correctly the tap tempo switch when pressed clears and starts recording a new loop. Or pressed once it stops/deletes the loop.

@Udoyothing sorry for being lazy and copying your pic!

And with this my pedal board will be finished :innocent:

Now, you make me doubting. I thought I’ve seen it in the video but after watching it two times, I can’t confirm anymore. Thanks for coming back on this, I will edit my post. My brain is fogged out for watching too many FX pedal videos.

Watching the video I thought the same thing! They make it look like it can overdub for days!

The plural (phrases) got me confused.

That’s an odd way to put it for sure! Maybe it’s on the horizon!

Seems to have Total Recall and extensive Midi Implementation?

“When you’ve got something interesting happening, you can capture a snapshot and save
up to 80 user presets for immediate recall. You can dive back into your collection of
experiments and happy accidents later, just as you remember them.” (from the Manual)

And you can rout the Modules in the order you want.

4 Rearrange-able Effect Modules

This looks nice. Really like the interface design and how you can select and reroute things. Only downside is the lack of distribution options meaning good price ends up a bit higher. But still…

I reckon they implemented MIDI a bit better than on the Microcosm. You needed to send the same CC with different values with the Cosm in order to loop which was a PITA to setup with the OT.

As for the presets, 80 sounds good but to to remember where is your preset and what it does just with colour leds, good luck… Maybe if you take note carefully and try to recall it thru MIDI but I was already lost with 16 presets on the Cosm. Add to this different orders of modules

Is there any indication of how the presets are recalled? Yeah potential UI nightmare

To enter
the PRESET BROWSER menu, press and hold the BYPASS foot switch.
A wiping button animation will indicate that you’ve entered the browser.
The Buttons indicate which preset bank you are in.
A Button illuminated: Bank A
B Button illuminated: Bank B
C Button illuminated: Bank C
D Button illuminated: Bank D
The 4 LED bars will indicate which specific preset slot you are in, using a
white cursor and color coded menus.

Then you can use knobs or footswitches to navigate. There’s a pre-audition of the presets set by default (clever).

Ah damn it. The more I read the manual the more I think I need it to team up with the Microcosm.

Had no intention of getting one and then I went to their website and saw it was only $399 and bought one immediately. Love my Microcosm, I can’t image I won’t fuck with this also.

Seeing them next to each other and not using them much is exactly why I bought the chroma…

damn if this thing doesn’t overdub alot of people will be pissed at the no return policy, they should clarify rather than tiptoe around the issue, I think if it’s not implemented it will be the first request.

I’d put money on there being overdub seeing as this is basically an expanded Microcosm.

Yeah this sucks. Chase Bliss is a lot friendlier there with their European hub, import taxes alone are 80€ …

Aaanyways, I impulse ordered this since I really like the Microcosm and I’m sure they will be hard to get and easy to sell later on. I’m using only three effects groups on Microcosm most of the time (Mozaic, Haze, Pattern Delay) and miss a bit of control over it. So maybe this can replace or complement it. I’m glad I resisted any new CBA pedal as this seems much more useful for me and has a way better form factor. Could potentially also replace my Gen Loss and Brothers.

Really curious how many effects will be usable and how many will turn out as rather meh. Microcosm was a bit hit or miss. But having control over a chain of four effects makes me confident there’s loads of creative potential here even if some effects per se are not great. And it could be a lot easier to dial in/replicate stuff.

Design is once again outstanding. Glad they stuck with the old medical equipment grey instead of the black from Microcosm special edition, which looked completely wrong to me.

Awesome they kept DIN MIDI. Hoping you can easily make out a thru, why would I need out from a pedal?
