However - if this is a next level Blooper, not a sequel but just a new take on what Blooper did, then I’m in trouble. Again.
I know Joel said he’s never making a Blooper 2, but he also said it’s partly because of its complicated code base. So I got the feeling, if they would ever get into looping again in that fashion, it would be a new product, not an MKII of something they already have.
Yes, this rings very true and fair. We kinda curate Chase Bliss objects as if we’ve been appointed in a contemporary museum or with a private art collector. And that is more than okay imo hahahaha
This is a nice way to put it. It is a bit odd, I honestly think I get as much joy from just owning the lovely precious objects as I do from using them and I think that’s totally fine. I have a genuine vibe that Joel and the rest of Chase Bliss are a positive force in the world and I enjoy patronising them.
Habit was my first CB pedal and I doubt I’ll ever part with it.
I like it best as a digital delay with subtle textural elements and bleeps that you can adjust to taste.
I wouldn’t recommend it if you’re reading about “Collect” mode and hoping to create a whole workflow of sample-based music making. Collect mode is pretty “hands-off” and hard to get deliberate results out of. Maybe fun to mess with, but can get frustrating if you are trying to achieve specific results. Just my opinion
I’ve actually looked more on the delay side of things as I’ve gathered that collect is pretty flimsy. Maybe the devisivness of the device stems from people expectation on the collect feature…
Yeah I think they really promoted it hard based on the Collect/“echo collector” gimmick but that didnt seem to be a huge strength of the device, strangely. Maybe I didn’t give it a long enough chance but yeah.
Beyond that, even the “Scan” function is not really as impressive as you would hope, but I still like it.
All that being said, when I spent time with the pedal (it was my first pedal so I was invested) and learned some ways to use it the way I wanted to, I really liked it and I’ve used it to create a few different albums.
I was really hoping that the first influential change Tom would have on chase bliss was to move the dips to the front, the in/out to the back and allow the sides to sit flush against one another like all of the other cooper fx pedals I have, looks like it’s not gonna happen… hope he does some more pedals on the side
