Just my own experience from very few professional encounters. I know very well that you cannot always align and approve of all people you meet in your work life, so I’ll be very clear and state that this is just my personal opinion and perception.

Looking at it from a financial perspective, I’m sure this guy will have a skill set that will be of great value for Elektron (THAT isn’t a surprise to me). For me, there are other values to be considered as well.

No intention of influencing any of you to anything, the news just triggered old (not good) memories in me personally that made my react with a quick reply.

Also, I may be a total dick generally so you shouldn’t ever take my word and personal opinion too serious .

Dude doesn’t look like he’s spent a minute of his life at a sweaty basement party.

I was in the radio business for a while and I worked as a sales rep for Meinl percussion covering the entire Southeastern U.S. (German company- got to go over there once) and every time something like this would happen (people jumping ship, new CEO, new managers, etc.) it would eventually mean a bigger company/entity was about to scoop up the company. I have no inside info but for what it’s worth, from experience, I feel like they’re about to be sold off to a bigger company. I’m surprised this hasn’t happened to other musical instrument companies since the pandemic started. We should all pool our resources and start our own hardware company. Make that Elektron box that does it all. Crazier things have happened.

You would be surprised at how many of Ā« those looking guys Ā» were at Rave parties. Those guys are party animals.

I have some funds to help kickstart an all in one box.

Is this all a ploy to get everyone with an elektron box in their sweetwater/thomann cart to click order? I know I’m starting to panic at the idea of never having an OT again, or letting the DT pass me by.

Maybe Korg is going to buy them out and then produce the Elektribe. That would be cool.

Lol

Is he partly responsible for the lack of percentage musicians get from spotify?

didn’t you read those links that he keeps tweeting? it’s actually the fault of coffee shops that causes artists to not be paid

Exactly. I saw the same thing happen many years ago to an audio software company I loved - Sonic Foundry (proves this isn’t even a software vs hardware thing).

Sonic Foundry was the really progressive company behind Sound Forge (which I still use) and then ACID and Vegas. Really ahead of the curve stuff, especially UI-wise.

Then they floated on the stock market and the suits decided they should get rid of their audio software and peddle video conferencing kind of stuff. Like whaaaat?! This was in the early noughties. The software was sold to Sony (survived okish there) and then to Magix and none of it is now really what it was of course.

I think we’ve all seen this pattern with plenty of companies and they never learn (or more likely, business-heads just don’t care - it’s only ever about the money).

Can’t spill 'em if they’re frozen

This whole thing is definitely a wait-and-see situation.

I’ve joined companies before just as people are leaving and saying how it has changed for the worse - they have turned out to be great places to work sometimes, and not so great places other times, so it’s hard to say either way.
I’ve also been the one leaving a company as things have been getting worse (from my view), but they have then gone on to do good things and the people still there have enjoyed it.

Saying all that, Cenk’s wording and activity are definitely breeding concern, but we won’t know what’s going to happen until there’s more news.

… to this thread? Yeah nothing new to learn here anymore (?). And becoming CEO this year, he will not have the biggest influence on the next Elektron product but more where the company is going to be in 5 years (still deep in our hearts hopefully)…

I had a dream, it was a country where all musicians use the same expensive black electronic boxes with just 2 buttons - red and blue. They never create music, but just perform and dance to it on stage. Before the party they just request and upload the new program to their machine with the rights to play it only once, after it disappear forever. The sound is always top quality and unique, never boring and never repeat. The world is random. Everybody is happy and feel no pain of choice.
