Bring back the days of the Analog Keys

Analog Keys is the one Elektron device I rarely see in those “post your setups” threads on here.

I don’t even know who/what Tuss is but I wouldn’t judge a synth by its presets!

Having 5 keyboards, from 88key to the “tiny” 37key AK, the DT is the gigantic midi sequencing godsend I have been waiting for.

I’d also like a sample based drum machine. Does it have one of those? And a simple to use sampler. Got one of those? :cake: :yum:

But still need the song mode. Or fix the pattern lag.
ps
If anyone has a perfectly operating DT, you have a customer right here :heavy_dollar_sign:

Hmmm… V.S. was 6 when I was studying classics of electronic music, like:

A different electronic music tradition, I suppose…

I’ll defend Volcas to my death. Or at least, for the time being. They’re plain fun and easy to use and the controls don’t infuriate me - they did a really good job on them.

The Boutiques on the other hand… Well, it probably doesn’t help that I have zero attraction to old Rolands and I still don’t know any real difference between JX-03 JU-06 and JP-08 except that they’re based on older synths I don’t know the difference between. I did get to play with an SE-02 recently, though, and its controls feel like someone’s pulling an elaborate joke.

Funny thing is that a Boutique with a keyboard is actually bigger than a Digitone or Digitakt. But most of the Boutiques I’ve tried at the synth shop over the years feel far far away in terms of usability - they just feel cramped. Except for the A-01 Boutique that nobody loved.

All just really depends on how well someone designs something, really.

Once you put a Roland A-01 and SE-02 in K25M keyboard. Those become really nice and solid
SE-02 is classy actually—prefer it to my old SH-101 and MC-202

Exactly my point

just curious @Ryan, were you not able to control your DAW with an OT? Wondering what I might be missing

I don’t think so…

After a gig once a girl flirtily told me that my bass playing had reminded her of Alan Partridge. I was just like ‘uhh… ok?’ and the conversation died. Makes more sense now, thanks.

I wasn’t very ITB back then, so I didn’t try to control my DAW back then- OT doesn’t have midi over USB. So you need a midi interface

I’m calling that a buying signal but I’m a half glass full kinda guy

I’m confused. Bigger, clunkier, and harder to use machines are better? Why?

I’m 34 and because of these smaller devices I can write and mix entire tracks with a few boxes I pull out of a bag. Shit?

Of course not but you get the idea

Huh, there are other people out there who share the same opinion as you? That’s quite a revelation. Elektron made a machine that could appeal to the masses… maybe the only rational thing to do is complain about it. God forbid, Elektron came out with a product that’s accessible, easy to use, and has great sound potential. But it’s not as deep as the Octatrack, oh no! Our beloved Elektron has sold out, might as well speculate on what could have been, and re: those people who are having fun with a Digitone - well, we’ve gotta let 'em know that they’re actually not having fun, that in fact they are suckers who fell for some prefab bullshit device. It’s the internet after all, and I really have to let them know what I think. How else will the sheeple learn?

No problem. Just buy four of these and you will get almost the same. Minus the parameter locks, any knobs, sequencer, filters, hundreds of save slots, USB, input, effects, overbridge, X-Y mix, external sequencer and portability.

But you will get more algorithms and voices and 6 instead of 4 fm operators.!

4 operators, man. might as well sever a limb while we’re at it. talk about limited functionality… I don’t wanna sound just like Justin Beiber OR “Tuss”
…so lame

Personally, I’m a huge fan of the new form factor and UI. I find the new boxes to be extremely intuitive, ergonomic and aesthetic.
