Stawwwwp yer makin the wait worse.
Definitely sus. Has it become a thing, like synthfluencers, developers send games in advance to gametubers? I don’t think Vaati (for example) got ER in advance. I would imagine it’d be smart PR to do that.

I think they’re all quietly gorging on a torrented leak of TOTK lol
I’ve been wondering when the review embargo was going to end. I wonder if the leak has influenced that at all…
Yeah you wonder if Nintendo would even bring the release date forward. I mean why not? It’s good to go.
I suspect there’ll be a DLC announcement this week, going off of how things wen’t last time around. Pre-order announce, general timeline, that kinda thing.
(in a memory cutscene)
I saw someone else mentioned the possibility of DLC - why? Did BOTW have DLC drop early on in the release cycle?
They sort of did a general announce like a week out from release. Like, Hi! There’ll be DLC, it’s not done yet, it’ll be out in the Fall, you can pre-order if u want. That kinda thing. I reckon we’ll get that this week. Like the title and that it’s happening. Or who knows maybe totk is so massive it doesn’t need it
Iirc correctly DLC for Botw was a good while after release. The ER DLC was just announced and that was released early last year was it?
ER review embargo ended iirc 3-4 days before release.
I’m sure it would cause havoc in logistics to bring the release date up.
yeah they announced it like 2 weeks before botw came out. It was just vague tho, like, it’s called this and it’ll be out when its out. so you could pre-order it at that time, but it released in 2 stages, first just a few trinket things and then the main champions ballad thing
I’m expecting similar to above - although - I realise now this was 3 weeks prior to botw release. maybe too late for that now
Review copies (ie: digital codes) have gone out late last week so they’ll be busy alright.
Oh right. I didn’t remember that option. I was thinking of the actual DLC release.
hehe yeah just jokes
god could you imagine trying to cram a game like that for a review
I know! No way to play a game like that on a time limit. Just 10 more days of some serious spoiler dodging…
I’m playing botw loads in the meantime. it’s surprising how much stuff I’ve never seen. it really is a special thing.
there’s worry around the place that it’ll get sidelined once totk is out, but I think it’s gonna stand the test of time as the ‘chill’ Switch Zelda. its so ambient and minimal
edit: also I catch up with my nephews from time to time and they are absolutely lords at it, way better at the controls than I am. they can do the wind bombing and all the hack stuff I don’t do. they tell me all these things about it I just have no idea about. I learned the other day you can throw a rusty shield or sword at an Octorok and if it sucks it in, it spits it out all clean
I agree. Two very different tones.
Honestly, depending on how this game goes, I am suspicious about this claim it was DLC and then they expanded on it. How perfect are the two together? You have your empty serene world which you clear away to start again. Then you do, and you have to protect it against the hyper hordes. It’s too perfect honestly.
I’ve just been doing some Zonai tourism in BotW. Visiting ruins in preparation for TotK
Well, I think it was in some of the DLC they added the ability to attach the Octo balloon guts to some wood and it would float. I think maybe that was the beginning of some of that vehicle crafting stuff.
But, I think yeah at the time everyone was very fond of that Hyrule. It may seem a little stale now, but 4 years ago everyone still had rose tinted glasses, even Nintendo.
Apparently the devs were playing loads of ER and that was the point when they doubled down and it got delayed. I personally couldn’t get into ER. Not enough things for me to do and everything is about fighting. It’s like the whole game is a Hynox / a Lynel / Blightganon. Too much for me. So even an open world apparently as vast as ER’s, I just couldn’t see any value in it if all I had to do was combat.
Hopefully TOTK raises a glass to it but with all that Zelda goodness
Typical shocked awakening after the memory ends, followed by disgusted puking
Elden Ring came out late February last year. If you think that had any bearing on TotK’s release date, I think you don’t know how game development works, especially on massive games like these ![]()
I had this same initial reaction.
“Oh! So much danger to discover! Wonderful!”
I think my impression changed when I finally got gud(over leveling) and finally beat Margit and discovered the absolute immersion in Stormveil Castle. Dang was that a magical shift.
I HOPE there’s some Elden Ring inspiration put into the game. My biggest worry right now is that TotK will pale in comparison to ER(despite TotK probably being more my type of gameplay experience)
Edit: its so weird. I can’t explain it. In BotW you would go through a large labyrinth to discover another shrine. Yawn boring.
BUT! IN ELDEN RING. Go through a dangerous side dungeon. Get slaughtered by the boss multiple times to get a weapon your stats won’t let you use.
I can’t explain it.
