I just noticed that Thomann expects availability 15-19 weeks from now, while it was still at 1-2 weeks when I checked there yesterday. As I didn’t pre-order I was hoping to pick one up from a store after its release but that may turn out to be difficult.
Whatever you do, I wouldn’t buy from Thomann B-stock. I bought one Jellymix from there and it had been damaged by the previous owner. I suspect it was plugged to incorrect type of power supply. Never using Thomann again for expensive purchases, their packaging is really bad nowadays as well, I guess it’s done by robots. Ended up buying from Elevator Sound. They still have it in stock after a week, so I think Xcelon should be relatively easy to acquire as well if you are patient and keep checking the shop websites, and order email notifications for in stock availability from the shops where it’s possible.
Been eyeing the Xcelon SL also, because there would be some benefits to my setup if I had more channels. But I think I will wait for the product to mature and see later, as I’m really happy with the Jellymix.
Sorry to hear, I never had problems with Thomann, I typically only order smaller things and accessories there though. When I had a faulty item (a rackmount power strip) they let me keep it and just sent me a new one, that’s the only time I dealt with their customer service.
But yeah in general I prefer to buy bigger items local. I hope MIDI Amsterdam will receive some, it’s listed on their site.
Let‘s hope they don‘t completely prioritize direct orders. Put in my pre-order at Schneiders quite early, would be great to get the Xcelon soon.
They stated that they are shipping in the same order received
Thomann Germany notified me that my shipment is delayed until November 6th. I ordered in the first 5 minutes of pre-order. It’s a small firm and demand will be high, so I guess you will have to be patient… it seems like they have reserved the first batch for their American customers.
It does say on their website that the estimated ship date for the first batch is Sept 21 thru Nov 7. As you say they are a small firm and can only crank out so many per week.
has anyone ordered from volt music store before? it seems that they list the sl mixer way cheaper then the other competitors…
I got my Roland TR1000 with a bit of a discount from them via Reverb. Legit store.
thanks - preordered it - with discount it is around 1730€ with shipping to germany ![]()
I’ve also ordered there in the past. It’s legit.
ugh, cool!
Has anyone received shipping info yet?
Yep I got shipping notification on Friday. Gets here Thursday.
I called Detroit modular they said their preorders r pushed back til late October/early November apparently.
May I ask when you put your order in? I put mine in the first hour the orders opened up and no notification yet.
I happened to be looking at my phone when my reminder dinged, so I ordered within a minute or two of the presale going live.
I ordered the first day , but it seems they will be shipping about 25 units per week. Also also add in the preorders outside the US these probably moved a lot faster than we realized.
I ordered about a week in. Hoping by mid October but this is just wishful thinking.
Got mine yesterday. I reached out to Boredbrain for directions to flip the LED meters to pre-fader (you take 6 screws out on the right, pop the side panel off, and there’s a switch inside).
They said I was literally the first person to get their mixer, so that is cool.
It’s nice! If you’re familiar with their Eurorack modules the build quality feels similar. I like the compactness of it and from the short amount of time I’ve had to use it so far it sounds great.
I’ve still got the Xcelon Eurorack mixer with expanders. Right now my plan it to take the expanders out of my performance case, but keep the main Xcelon in there as a submixer for some of the Eurorack voices. I can run this into the mix bus B insert and not take up any channels on the SL mixer.
I’ll route my kick (bohm/battering ram) to the SL for side chain ducking, and my non-eurorack gear as well.
We’ll see. There’s lots of options and routing possibilities.
