I had a mpc live and went the other way and sold it for a Digitakt and Blackbox 
No wrong or right way to do it, find the workflow that gels with you. The all in one aspect of the MPC One is a great feature for sure.
On the plus side now you have $700 to spend on a synth … Digitone?..

My first drum machine was an MPC2000. It was a great place to start. And now the MPC line is super advanced, with just about everything you could possibly need to make finished tracks. Sounds like a great box for beginners and pros. Probably a great choice. Especially if you have no idea what you want to do. Lots to learn. Have fun.
I do mainly use the Blackbox as a looper and slicer and it really does a great job at that. Besides it does time stretch and got 6 individual outs. But the Blackbox does not even own a resonating filter or a filter envelope, no LFO and just an amp envelope. I have never used the BB Sequencer, I do personally hate piano rolls. I guess it will become better…
So it will be less than the DT at sound design level right now. It depends the DT is a programming device or Tracker. Quiet different than a drumbrute f.e. as a classical drum machine.
There is still not the all in one box.
Depends on what you want in the box, tho😊
