Best Video Editing Software For Audio Nerds

So I have two New Year’s Resolutions.

  1. Ditch Adobe Creative Suite
  2. Upload more videos to Youtube.

This means I’m going to need new video editing software. I am wide open to suggestions that allow for extensive audio editing as one of my biggest gripes with Premiere Pro was the rudimentary interface and lack of side chaining.

What is the Ableton/Bitwig of video editing?

have a look at Davinci Resolve with the Fairlight audio core
there seems to be a lot going for that solution, including the one time price

Like mce076 said, DaVinci Resolve. I switched from Adobe to DaVinci for professional video work about a year ago. It’s by far the best all in one package

Same, Davinci Resolve. The free version will take you far, if you want to reward them for their work by buying the pro version, it will take you even farther.

Tried bender but it’s actually to much and I found it way to complicated to render everything which took ages even if I was just cropping video.

Thumbs up for davinci, works like a charm and is fast. Also the dedicated audio section is very useful. :+1:

So basically, “Why didn’t you google davinci resolve?” :joy:

I will go do that ASAP.

Thank you @Andreas_R @BETONG @Unifono @mce076 , what would I do without you? :upside_down_face:

If you do the iPad thingy and your goal is to upload your music jams, Lumafusion is the real deal.

If a version is free and its great how do they make money. Just curious.

Davinci 16 here as well!

The Pro version isn’t exactly cheap and is widely used in professional studios especially for color grading. They even sell special controllers for it as well.

Hardware.

This would be the perfect opportunity to crack a joke about music hardware vs. software but for video editing!

I’m far away from that. I assume you can’t really reach them with youtube synth videos

Are there any limitations with free version?

I’m not really sure what the difference between the free and pro version is. Money wise its around 300 €, not that expensive for a editing program imho.

yeah, no 4k afaik

They need more customers that’s why it’s free, I guess… everybody is using cracked or super expensive Adobe Cloud. Not easy to compete. I also have the feeling it’s not quite there where Premiere is in terms of usability / intuitive workflows. They have lots of nice modules (mostly working with nodes) but for me the UI/UX was “new” and hard to get into… If someone would hold a gun to my head and say: “edit this video with title animations in 10 minutes!” I’d definitely not be using Davinci
